1) הוראה משם פ' עקב – "והי' עקב תשמעון", ופרש"י "אם המצוות קלות שאדם דש בעקביו תשמעון", שיש לקיים גם מצוות שה"יצר" טוען שהם קטנות וקלות, כמו מצוות שילד קטן עושה, ובשכר זה "ושמר ה"א לך את הברית ואת החסד אשר נשבע לאבותיך". 2) כשה"יצר" בא עם טענה אחרת לילד יהודי: 'כיצד הנך ממתין לגאולה האמיתית והשלימה שתבוא תיכף ומיד, בשעה שאני (היצה"ר) מסתובב בחוץ ורואה מה נעשה בעולם, גלות קשה והרבה מכשולים וכו'', הנה התשובה לזה הוא בפסוק מפורש בשלישי דפ' עקב, "והם עמך ונחלתך אשר הוצאת בכחך הגדול ובזרועך הנטוי'": כשם שיצי"מ היתה "כהרף עין", כמו"כ תהי' גם הגאולה העתידה!, ואין פלא בדבר שהרי "הם עמך ונחלתך!".

Synopsis
(1)Parashas Eikev begins: “And it will be, because (‘Eikev’) you will heed…”; and Rashi explains, “If you will heed the minor mitzvos which one tramples with his heels (‘eikev’): one must keep even the mitzvos that the yetzer argues are minor and unimportant, like the mitzvos performed by a young child, and in reward, “Hashem your G-d, will keep for you the covenant and the kindness that He swore to your forefathers. (2) The yetzer comes to a Jewish child and argues: How can you be waiting for the true and complete Redemption and expecting it to come imminently, when I go around and see what’s happening in the world and the difficult exile with so many challenges etc. But the answer appears in an explicit verse in shelishi of Parashas Eikev, “But they are Your people and Your inheritance, which You brought out with Your great strength and with Your outstretched arm”: just like the Exodus from Egypt took place “in the blink of an eye,” so, too, will the coming Redemption. And it’s no wonder, because “they are Your people and Your inheritance.”
