הל' תשובה להרמב"ם נחלק לעשר פרקים [שיעורי רמב"ם לימים אלו]. וי"ל שהם כנגד העשר חלוקות שבישראל "ראשיכם שבטיכם גו' מחוטב עציך עד שואב מימך", והעשר כחות שבכ"א מישראל. ביאור הדבר: בסוף הל' תשובה מבאר הרמב"ם שההתקשרות עם הקב"ה צ"ל באופן אמיתי – לא לשם קבלת שכר גשמי בעוה"ז או שכר רוחני בעוה"ב, כ"א באופן ש"עושה האמת מפני שהוא האמת", "מאהבה". וזהו המענה לאלו הטוענים שלימוד פנימיות התורה שייך רק ליחדי סגולה וכיו"ב – הרי פס"ד ברור ברמב"ם בסוף הל' תשובה שגם "עמי הארץ והנשים והקטנים מחנכין אותן לעבוד מיראה עד שתרבה דעתן ויעבדו מאהבה", והרי "היאך היא הדרך לאהבתו כו' בשעה שיתבונן האדם במעשיו וברואיו הנפלאים כו' – ענינים התבארים בפנימיות התורה! ועצם קבלת החלטות טובות, ובפרט בנתינת הצדקה (שכולם מתאחדים בקבלת השליחות לצדקה) תזרז את השכר – הגאולה!

Synopsis
The Rambam divides Hilchos Teshuvah into ten chapters, and it could be said that they correspond to the ten categories among the Jewish people, “Your heads of your tribes…your wood cutters to your water drawer,” as well as the ten faculties of a Jew’s soul: At the end of Hilchos Teshuvah, the Rambam explains that one’s connection with Hashem must be genuine – not for the sake of reward but rather “doing the truth because it is the truth,” “out of love.” And this is the response to those who argue that studying the inner dimension of Torah is only for select individuals: the Rambam rules explicitly at the end of Hilchos Teshuvah that even “simple people and women and children are trained to serve Hashem out of fear until their knowledge increases and they serve out of love.” And “What is the way to love Him…when man contemplates great deeds and creations…” – concepts that are explained in the inner dimension of Torah. And the very act of making positive resolutions, especially with regard to giving tzedakah (when everyone unites in a shlichus of giving tzedakah), will hasten the reward, which is the coming of the Redemption.
