לאחרי המאורע בקשר לכהונת אהרן המסופר בפ' קרח, באה טענת בנ"י [בשישי דפ' קרח] "הן גוענו אבדנו כולנו אבדנו, כל הקרב הקרב אל משכן ה' ימות וגו'". וע"ז בחר ה' מתוך בנ"י את שבט לוי שהם ישמרו "את משמרת הקודש וגו'", להודיע ולהזהיר בנ"י עד היכן מותר להם להתקרב ומהיכן מותר רק לכהן ולוי. וההוראה בנוגע ל"משכן הרוחני": חיי היהודי נחלקים בדרך כלל לעניני תומ"צ שבהם שונה לגמרי מאוה"ע, ועניני הרשות כמו אכילה ושתי' ומסחר שבהם דומה לאוה"ע, אלא שיהודי עושה גם מהם מקדש לו ית'. וכדי שידע עד מתי עליו להתעסק בתומ"צ ומתי מותר וצריך להתעסק בעניני הרשות לשם שמים, והרי בגלל אהבת עצמו אא"פ לסמוך ע"ע – בחר ה' מתוך בנ"י מדריכים ומחנכים שהם מורים את (ילדי) בנ"י ומחנכים אותם לדעת מהו הזמן השייך לעניני קדושה ומהו הזמן השייך לעניני הרשות לשם שמים. וה' נותן להם הכחות והברכות להצלחה, ואת השכר – "אני חלקך ונחלתך". יה"ר שתוכלו לומר בסיום הקיץ "ראו גידולים שגידלנו".

[In Shishi of Parashas Korach], after the episode of Korach, the Jewish people complain, “Behold, we are dying, we will perish, we are all lost. Whoever comes close to the Mishkan of Hashem dies!” In response Hashem selects the tribe of Levi from among the Jewish people to keep “the charge of the Sanctuary,” to show the Jewish people where in the Sanctuary they may go and where they may not. This serves as a lesson for the spiritual Mishkan: Generally, a Jew’s life is divided into matters of Torah and mitzvos, in which they are completely different from non-Jews, and permissible matters like eating, drinking, and business, in which they are similar to non-Jews (except that a Jew turns that part of his life, too, into a Mishkan). How can a person, who is influenced by self-love, know until what point he must be involved in Torah and mitzvos, and when it is permissible and necessary to engage in permissible matters? For this Hashem appoints from among the Jewish people guides and educators who teach those around them and show them when it is time to be involved in holiness and when it is time to be involved in permissible matters for the sake of Heaven. Hashem grants these emissaries the strength and blessing they need to succeed, and their reward is that, “I am your portion and inheritance.” May it be His will that at the end of the summer you will be able to say, “See what we have brought up.”
