הרמז בעבודה ממצות חלה [כמ"ש בשישי דפ' שלח] כפשוטה שהיא הפרשת חלה מעיסה שנילושה מקמח ומים (כשיעור): קמח עושים ע"י שלוקחים חטים (לדוגמא) שלימים וטוחנים אותם לפירורים דקים, ואח"ז מערבבים בו מים וכו'. ובעבודה: לכל לראש על האדם "לטחון" את ה"מציאות" שלו, הגוף ונפה"ב עם כל הרצונות שלו, לפירורים דקים, שלא לתפוס מקום בעיני עצמו ‏–‏ "ונפשי כעפר" וכו'. אבל מזה עדיין לא יכול להיות "לחם" ש"לבב אנוש יסעד", אלא עליו לחבר את כל הפירורים האלו למציאות אחת ע"י שמערבב בהם "מים", שענינם ‏–‏ "מניחין מקום גבוה והולכין למקום נמוך" ‏–‏ אינם חושבים על עצמם והתעלותם אלא מחפשים איפה יש "מקום נמוך", "מקבל", שיוכלו להשפיע בו ‏–‏ לעשות "טובה" למישהו. וכשאופים "עיסה" זאת בחמימות של "תנור אחד" ‏–‏ ה' אחד, אז נעשה מזה "לחם לבב אנוש יסעד" וכו'.

The hint in the mitzvah of Challah (as described in shishi of parashas Shelach): Flour is made by taking whole kernels of grain and grinding them into fine particles, then mixing them with water and kneading them into dough. Similarly, in one’s Divine service one must first “grind” his own personal identity – his body and animal soul with all its desires – into fine particles, meaning they take up no space in his own eyes, “and my soul will be like dust” etc. However, this isn’t yet sufficient to make “bread that sustains man’s heart.” Rather, one must bind all the pieces into one by mixing them with “water,” whose nature is to flow “from a high place and to a low place” – not thinking about oneself and his own personal advancement, but looking for a “low place” where there is something he can accomplish by impacting someone else. And when this dough is baked with the warmth of “one oven” – the warmth of Hashem Who is One – then it becomes “bread that sustains man’s heart” etc.
