[המשך] לאחרי העבודה ד"סור מרע" ["ניסן", כנ"ל], שמונע את עצמו מענינים בלתי-רצויים, צ"ל גם "ועשה טוב" – לקיים מצוות עם עניני העולם. וכאן מתעוררת אצלו השאלה האם יצליח גם בזה? נכון שהוא בבחי' "ניסן", אבל – טוען הוא – בניסן יצאו ממצרים, אבל עכשיו מדובר על "מדבר" שאותו צריך להפוך לטוב. היתכן?! אומרים לו: אין להתפעל מכך! ואת זה לומדים מענינו של חודש אייר שבא לאחרי חודש ניסן (אבל עוד לפני חודש סיון ומ"ת) שבו נכנסו בנ"י לתוך המדבר למלאות בענינים שם את שליחות הקב"ה, ונשארו בשלימותם במשך כל החודש! וזו היתה מטרת יציאת מצרים והכחות שקיבלו מלמעלה בחודש ניסן – שאח"כ יפעלו בעניני העולם ולהשתמש בהם "לשמש את קונו". וזוהי כללות העבודה ד"אני נבראתי לשמש את קוני" ע"י ב' הקוין ד"סור מרע" ו(אח"כ )"עשה טוב". ושבת מבה"ח אייר (שבסוף חודש ניסן) מחבר את שניהם.

Synopsis
[Continued.] After the service of “turning away from evil” (“Nissan”, as mentioned earlier), where one restrains himself from undesirable things, one must also “do good” – fulfilling mitzvos with worldly matters. Now he wonders: how is it possible to succeed with this, too? True, he lives in a manner of “Nissan” (miracles), but – he argues – in Nissan the Jewish people left Egypt, whereas now we’re talking about the desert, and transforming it to good. How is that possible? The answer is that there’s no reason to be daunted – as we learn from the month of Iyar, which comes after Nissan (but still comes before Sivan and the giving of the Torah): During Iyar, the Jewish people entered the desert to fulfill Hashem’s mission there, and they remained spiritually intact throughout the entire month. And this was the purpose of leaving Egypt and the strength they were given from Above during Nissan – to engage afterward in worldly matters and utilize them to serve their Maker. This is the general fulfillment of the dictum “I was created to serve my Maker” through both “turning away from evil” and (afterward) “doing good.” And Shabbos Mevorchim Iyar (at the end of Nissan) connects the two.
