מכיון ש"אתם המעט מכל העמים" [שביעי דפ' ואתחנן], ובעם ישראל גופא - אלו שנזהרים בקיום תומ"צ עד לדקדוק קל של ד"ס, הם המיעוט, ובכ"א מישראל גופא - עניניו הרוחניים הם במיעוט לגבי עניניו - נשאלת השאלה: מהי התועלת בכללות ה"מלחמה" על קיום תומ"צ בהידור וכו', והרי סוכ"ס נשארים במיעוט לגבי הרוב?! והתירוץ עפ"י החידוש שנתגלה לאחרונה בחכמות חיצוניות בנוגע לענין ה"אָטאָם", שלא ה"כמות" היא הקובעת, כ"א ניצול כל האיכות שיש אפי' בכמות קטנה ביותר, ע"י חלוקתו לחלקים קטנים ביותר - ענין הביטול. והמוסר השכל: אין להתפעל מהעובדה ש"אתם המעט וגו'", כי כשמגלים את הכחות הנעלמים שב"מעט", כח המס"נ, יש בכח של כמות קטנה ביותר, "אָטאָם" אחד, "להפוך" עיר שלימה ולכבוש עולם שלם. וע"ד ה"אחד הי' אברהם" - בהיותו אחד ויחידי כבש את העולם כולו עי"ז ש"ויקרא שם בשם ה' א-ל עולם".

Synopsis
Being that “You are the least of all the peoples” [as it says in shevi’i of Parashas Va’eschanan], and among Jews themselves – those who are meticulous to keep every minor Rabbinic requirement are the minority, and with every Jew individually, one’s spiritual matters are the minority compared to his physical matters – the question arises: what’s the point of this whole battle for keeping mitzvos etc., if ultimately they will still remain the minority? The answer can be found in recent the recent scientific discovery about the power of the atom: they discovered that what matters is not quantity, but to fully utilize the quality within it, which is done by splitting it – bittul. The lesson is that one must not be deterred by the fact that “you are the least.” Rather, when you reveal and utilize the powers hidden within that small quantity, you can overturn an entire city and conquer the entire world. As we see with “Avraham, who was one” – though he was just one person, he conquered the entire world and “called there in the name of Hashem, G-d of the world” – “he caused others to call.”
