BREAKING NEWS – YWAM Benin Team Bus Accident
(Current as of Nov 3, 2024)
A bus accident with four vehicles has occurred between Lagos and the border of Benin near the town of Badagry. The incident involved 15 members of a YWAM team from Benin returning home from a regional gathering. It is with great sadness we report one fatality and two critical injuries. Local YWAM leaders and friends have been ensuring access to quality care and supporting family and friends. Over the last 24 hours, a global outpouring of love and concern has been received.
Family and friends have been notified, and memorial arrangements are underway. When more information becomes available, another update will be made on ywam.org.
Urgent prayer is still needed for the injured, and please continue to pray for everyone involved. Our hearts go out to all those who are impacted.
Donations to help cover emergency expenses can be made at ywamkona.org/donate.
YWAM Asheville Hurricane Recovery:
Hurricane Helene devastated a lot of the South-eastern United States, with thousands of people missing or dead, and some entire communities simply wiped out. YWAM has mobilised to assist with the recovery.
We have multiple reports from YWAM Asheville, including this first person report of when the winds and rain hit the city:
Swannanoa is a rural area west of Asheville. Areas like that one across western North Carolina were hit the hardest by Helene’s effects. YWAM Ashville’s staff and students are ministering to people like the woman in the video, sharing the light of Jesus amidst the darkness through serving others, prayer, and conversations.
They are serving the rural areas hit hard by Helene, helping churches acting as distribution centres to people in need and have so far created 1032 buckets of food for distribution, with each bucket feeding a family of 4 for 3 days.
The team is also helping to provide free meals every day to people in downtown Asheville this week.
The teams partnered with Operation Blessing with their work, and continue to help with the recovery in Asheville.
You can follow the work of YWAM Asheville on their Facebook page.

Typhoon Kristine Hits Philippines
YWAM Philippines is putting out a request for prayer and support at this time.
As the typhoon brings challenges to many across the nation, we are called to respond with faith and action. This is an opportunity for us to not only pray but also mobilize relief efforts, send outreach teams, and support those in need. Whether through prayer, practical assistance, or coming alongside local communities, let’s step in where God leads.
Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus in this time of need.

Several YWAM bases have been directly impacted by the typhoon, including:
Haiti Massacre
“Last week a gang attacked a small town just outside of Saint Marc. The people of this village had been defending themselves and standing their ground against the gang for a while, but they ended up being attacked early Thursday morning. At least 70 people were killed in this devastating masacre. This sent hundreds of people running to Saint Marc for safety. We were so blessed to see the city of Saint Marc come together to help these people and carry their burdens. We were able to do a distribution of clothing, shoes and blankets. We also prepared and delivered food to 200 people. Please pray as this has left everyone scared for what the future holds for our city as well as the villages surrounding Saint Marc.”

YWAM South Sudan, Juba
I had this update sent to me by YWAM South Sudan …
“Yesterday, ywam Juba we were able to gathered with more than 50 pastors and bishop from different churches in heartfelt prayer for our beloved nation, South Sudan. As we united in faith, we lifted up our hopes and dreams for healing, restoration, and peace. Our conversations with God remind us of the strength and resilience of our people, and we trust that our collective prayers will usher in a brighter future. Together, we are committed to standing in the gap for our nation, believing that transformation is possible. Let’s continue to seek divine guidance as we work hand in hand for a prosperous South Sudan.
“As we pray for our nation, we hold on to the words of Philippians 4:6-7: ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’ May our hopes rise for South Sudan!”
Keep praying for our nation South Sudan and Ywam Juba South Sudan our heart want to see the revival in churches
And if you want to to know more what God is doing, and your love, to be part of our ministry, by supporting and prayer we love to invite thank you so much.”

Outreach into Hellfest!
YWAM Lyon participated in an interesting outreach in June 2024 in Clisson, France, when they joined with Metal Mission at Hell Fest …
Every year, the Metal Mission meets at Clisson for the Festival of Hell, the Hellfest. Many religious institutions have openly attacked this festival, calling it Satanic. However, other Christians heard another call and rather than denouncing and condemning the festival and its festival-goers, the Metal Mission has chosen to proclaim God’s love and to announce the good news.
What interests them is that metalheads can meet Jesus. And that is the main reason why they are here. And bring them the love of Christ, and that they can also taste it through their testimony. The Metal Mission live in the campsite with them, and they come every day see us, meet us, discuss, share with them slices of life. Sometimes they pray for them. Sometimes there are several who have accepted the Lord now, and who are even involved in churches, and even some who are now evangelizing themselves. And that is their greatest reward.
You can watch the full video, with English subtitles, in the show notes at ywampodcast.com/149, and also find out more about YWAM Lyon on their Facebook Page.
YWAM Island Reach Departing for Madagascar
We have been following the acquisition and refit of the Island Reach, an ex-naval supply ship, with YWAM Ships Switzerland. You can actually read, or listen, to much more about the process in previous episodes of the news show.
The ship is due to travel a distance of 6.834 km after departing on September 30 from Conwy Harbour in North Wales, and should be arriving in Madagascar before Christmas.
A spokesperson from the project stated:
“We will be blessed with a very international crew.
“We believe that the time is right and we are trusting for safety as we go, but to accompany us, you can join the journey in prayer.
“A weekly update (possibly more frequent) will be available with details of our passage for you to participate in the adventure.
“If you would like to be a part of this prayer chain, please let us know by sending an email to [email protected]
“We are so grateful to the many people who have given time, energy, expertise and finance to the project so far. Without you, we would not be where we are today.
“We have almost all that we need financially.
“There is a small portion of the costs that we still need to see come in, but we trust that this will happen over the next few weeks in order for us to complete the passage.”

YWAM Brisbane Boomerang Teams
I started my time with Youth With A Mission in Australia with a ministry that focused from Reef to Outback. We travelled through much of Queensland, and even into the Northern Territories of Australia, ministering in many small communities. This involved helping local churches, outreach centres, presenting at school, helping locals, and more. I loved it, and absolutely loved the people we met out there.
YWAM Brisbane is continuing this type of ministry with their Boomerang Teams.
YWAM Brisbane’s heart is to partner with outback and coastal communities here in Australia. They want to bring people from all over the world together in our country that we call home and bring hope of Jesus to our nation.
Their aim is to create ministry opportunities for YWAM DTS Outreach Teams and to see these teams have God-filled experiences that brings growth in their journeys with Jesus. They are a bridge that helps international teams like YOU come serve and strengthen the local Australian body of Christ!
Here are some testimonies from people who have been involved in these teams.
So, if you head over to ywambrisbane.com they will connect you to their amazing local outreach team, who will be your personal guides in ministry. They will help you connect with ministry contacts, churches and information about the locations and people to assist in all housing, food, accommodation, provide anything you need to have a successful outreach in Australia.

YWAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines Destroyed by Hurricane
We have this tragic update from the director of YWAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines after Hurricane Beryl passed through the islands last month …
Ben from Mayreau –
Today was rough, challenging, heartbreaking and so much more. You can prepare to go back to your home, campus and village after a hurricane but the reality was worse than the photos show. It looks like a massive bomb went off.
The landscape is different. The trees are gone. Beautiful pieces Mayreau is known for…just gone. Driving through the village is heartbreaking. Stepping foot on the YWAM campus was a punch in the gut. Walking into our home, seeing all the water still in it and seeing almost all of our belongings destroyed by wind and rain…nothing prepares you for this.
Jes’ 1st home at YWAM, our first home together and now KC & Kelsie’s home is destroyed. The roof of Jes & I’s home is worse than we thought but we still have walls to work with whereas other buildings don’t even have those.
The photos don’t do it justice…it’s devastating. The trauma these beautiful people have been through, there are no words. I was greeted with hugs and some smiles but could feel the hurt and loss. Our police chief Owen Issacs not only lost his home but has been working tirelessly and sacrificially to lead the charge. We cannot thank him enough. The team from WeAre Mayreau Inc, we see your hard work and also cannot thank you enough.
Our Mayreau community is strong and we will rebuild. But we can’t do it alone. We are so thankful for different relief supplies that have come in from neighboring communities and nations, yachties, and more. But this isn’t a short term project. We need more help. We need supplies, we need finances and we need volunteers.
Jes is in PA doing what she can to work with our team and organize supplies to be sent. Once I get back to PA we’ll announce our plans for getting volunteers and small teams down here to help with clean up and rebuilding – keep an eye out for that but if you’re already interested please send Jes a message at 717-201-0430.
Please keep praying.
The Lord is with us, always.
(source)
The destruction in the photos is dramatic, and the rebuilding that will need to be done, massive. You can check their Facebook page for updates, as well as their web-site, ywamsvg.org, and can also to see how you might be able to help, whether finacially, or maybe even with a team to help rebuild. They really do need the help.
YWAM Chico Fires
Last Month the YWAM location in Chico, California was threatened by a massive forest fire. Thankfully, by the grace of God, the location was spared …
Even though the fire did not burn down the hotel, smoke still did a lot of damage. They need help to clean and restore the 100-year hotel, it’s rooms, lobby, and gathering spaces throughout. They also lost critical infrastructure on the property to the fire. There are other building to restore, and plumbing and cabling needed to keep their ministry running.
They also need help with their fire defences. There is still brush and trees that need to be removed that can easily be fuel for another fire.
While dealing with the immediate issues, they are also assessing their long term needs. For YWAM Chico, it may not only be the rebuilding of their hydro-plant, but, may also be as simple as a new paint job, or replacing a refrigerator ruined due to rotting foods and an electrical fault. As they slowly return to normalcy they continue to update the situation through their web-site, ywamchico.org.
There is also a full video interview about the miracle in Chico, and the ministry that they are doing in California, on the show notes at ywampodcast.com/148.
The interview was by YWAM Virginia, who have been putting out some great stories, teaching, and testimonies.

YWAM Saint Marc Liberty Academy Trade School Graduation
Last month YWAM Saint Marc’s Liberty Academy Trade School graduated 520 students from their Liberty Academy Trade School. 520 people in their city now have a new skill set to better their lives. They had: Electrician, Plumbing, Welding, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Hair Braiding, Dread Locks, Sewing, Computer Science, Makeup, Nail Technician, Backhoe Loader Operator, English, Spanish, Tile Setting, Driver’s Education and Culinary Arts as class options this year.
In 2023 the Liberty Academy Trade School started with 200 students, and this year they graduated 520. To make the academy accessible for as many students as possible, they only charge a low $20 for the entire 4 months. They give God the glory for every single accomplishment because without Him, none of this would have happened.

Satsangs – Fellowship in India

YWAM Ships Australia
YWAM Ships Australia’s crew was hard at work installing two new generators on the MV YWM PNG, which is currently back in Australia for a refit. A partnership with YWAM Medical Ships Norway played a crucial role in bringing the generators all the way from Norway. (On the video version of this show I received an update from YWAM Medical Ships Australia informing me that the refit of the generators is being conducted in PNG, NOT in Australia as I had reported.)
During the last deployment of the ship from June to July in Port Moresby the crew and volunteers provided a comprehensive range of healthcare services. The current plan to have the ship back on outreach in PNG by October.
The YWAM Ships Dental Team in PNG was donated two new vehicles to support the school dental program, and community engagement initiatives. The donation included a 25-seater bus and an SUV, which will be utilised to transport volunteers across NCD and Central Province.

SBS Testimony for YWAM Osaka
YWAM Osaka recently completed their School of Biblical Studies course. From the stories from their students I pulled this testimony to share with you …
The School of Biblical Studies (SBS) at YWAM Takatsuki is a Japanese/English bilingual 10-month immersive course within Youth with a Mission, University of the Nations. It is designed to teach the students how to study the 66 books of the Bible through an inductive approach – to observe what the text says in the correct context, interpret and then make it applicable today. Students will not only be able to read a book and discover the big picture, but also be able to examine the finer details within each paragraph and verse.
The next course will be running from May 11, 2025- March 19, 2026, and you can find out more on their web-site, www.ywamtakatsuki.org/sbs.
YWAM Heredia Missionary Care Foundations Course
Missionary Care is a vital thing that every YWAM location should be engaging in for the well being of their staff and ministry. According to the Global Member Care Network:
Missionary care is doing whatever it takes, within reason, to insure that our workers feel cared for and supported by their agency and church, that they have the resources they need to work effectively, and to care well for themselves and their family. It is comprehensive – the ongoing preparation, equipping and empowering of missionaries for effective and sustainable life, ministry and work.
(source)
The Missionary Care Foundations is based on the definition of member care as: “The formal and informal efforts to develop, preserve, and restore kingdom workers for effective service.” It is built upon seven areas of support that provide care for missionaries.
During the three-week course, many topics and tools will be presented in each area using a variety of teaching methods, including case studies, demonstrations, practice sessions, and applications interspersed with instruction.
Students of the MCFC are provided with a training manual, “tools,” and a digital library of resources to support them in the fields of service where helpful personnel may not be accessible. All the presenter’s notes and power point presentations are also given to the students for their own review and use in communicating member care concepts.
The next Missionary Care Foundations Course will be running from October 26 – November 16, 2024 in YWAM Heredia, Costa Rica. You can find out more on the YWAM Heredia web-site, ywamheredia.com.

Learn effective interviewing techniques, develop impactful narratives, and create emotionally powerful films. Benefit from the guidance of missionary filmmakers and collaborate with fellow creatives. YWAM Les Cayes Facility Update
YWAM Les Cayes does not have access to an electricity grid, and needs to be able supply their own power at all hours. They are setup with a solar system, but that does not provide any power at night. YWAM Les Cayes has a battery setup to provide them with power at night, but they are currently needing to upgrade their system and replace 16 of their batteries, at a cost of $250 each.
In addition to upgrading their electrical system, they are also building a new building with storage facilities, service depot, hospitality area, and classroom.
You can follow their progress, and watch a video about their construction, on their Facebook Page.
YWAM Saint Marc Trade School Update
Also in Haiti, we have an update from YWAM Saint Marc.

This year the trade school has over 550 students enrolled, in 16 different classes that will be offered throughout the year.
The cost of the school per student is very low ($20 US) for four months of training. This is subsidized through donations towards the running of the trade school.

YWAM An Cuan – Foundations for Christian Peacebuilding
In January we shared with you about the Foundations for Christian Peacebuilding that YWAM An Cuan was running in Northern Ireland in May and November. The report from their May school is …
Our first-ever Foundations for Christian Peacebuilding school has come to a close! What a fantastic 2 weeks of diving deeper into what reconciliation looks like with God, ourselves, and those around us. Together we wrestled with the question, what does the gospel say to the hurt in our world today? How do we find hope for our world through a worldview of peace? Some of the highlights of our time included a trip to Belfast to visit All Nations Belfast, our practical conflict mediation night, visiting Holy Cross Monastery, and learning about our humanity with Aleck Cartwright, the International Dean for YWAM’s University of the Nations. (source)
The dates for the November school has changed from when we originally spoke about it, and is now running from November 10 – 22, and is described as “A 2-week mini-school exploring Peace, Justice, and Reconciliation.

Children’s Books for the Unreached
While I was reading about the Create International Mobile/Media4Movements training team story for this episode, I came across a course that they offer called the “Children’s Books for the Unreached”.
In this online course, student will learn how to write and/or illustrate high-quality, biblically-based, picture storybooks in a way that makes the Gospel of Jesus relevant and familiar to children in their own culture. This course is focused on producing illustrated storybooks for children among the unreached people groups of the world.
Here is a story from one of the previous courses that they ran:
The next CBU will be run in September 2024, and you can find out more over at createseeds.org.

Island Reach Medical Ship Update
Last month we shared an update about the Island Reach vessel, which has completed it’s refit, and is almost ready to be deployed to Madagascar. Since that update we have received a further update from Elaine Leakey, the YWAM Ships Switzerland President, about plan for deploying the vessel.
With the Suez Canal opening back up YWAM Ships Switzerland is no longer considering needing to piggy-back the vessel around the Southern tip of Africa, and instead is planning on transiting the vessel under it’s own power through the Suez Canal, and onto Madagascar, via the Seychelles. This way of getting the Island Reach to it’s destination will save over £200,000 in transit costs, but they will still need to raise £80,000 to complete the delivery.
The team from YWAM Ships Switzerland has been researching where to be based on the Island of Madagascar, and at the moment they are looking at possibly establishing themselves in Mahajanga as their home port. Mahajanga is located on the West coast of the island, and is Madagascar’s second port. This should provide great opportunities for partnering with the national maritime academy, and allow them access to many isolated communities that have very little medical services for the poor to access.
You can continue to follow along with the deployment of the Island Reach on the YWAM Ships – Switzerland Facebook Page.

Island Reach Deployment Delayed
We have been following the overall of the newest YWAM ship the Island Reach since December 2021 when it was first purchased. The ship’s overhall is complete, with the accommodation and medical facilities being complete, as well as all mechanical and electrical updates done.
Unfortunately, with the unrest happening in the Middle East, the costs to deliver the vessel to Madagascar has increased drastically. The ship will now have to piggyback on a much larger ship to go to Durban, South Africa, and then sail to Madagascar from there.
It is estimated that another £200,000 is needed before it can set sail. You can find out more about how to donate and get involved on the YWAM Ships Switzerland web-site, ywamships.ch.
Update!
The information published about the newest YWAM ship is not current information – and it’s not information that a decision by the board of executives for YWAM ships. As a board we are in a prayerful process deciding on transport and delivery of the vessel. This week the Ares Sea route has opened and we are investigating a departure in these next couple months.
Piggy-backing the vessel was something we looked into. But for now this stayed and option and we are trusting the Lord for safe passage this summer.

Compassion Ministry Opportunity Mali
Last month I was contacted by someone working in Mali, in West Africa, about a ministry opportunity there.
Mali is a large nation in West Africa, with a population of almost 20 million, and a Christian representation of less than 1%. There has been decades of unrest in the nation, with almost 200,000 Malians currently displaced. (source)
YWAM has a team that is currently working in Mali, with a focus on the refugees and the prisons. Here is a message I received from Simione, one of YWAM’s workers there:
I’m working with Compassion Ministry here in Mali. Focus in the prison (we visit the Prison every Friday morning), To the Refugee Camp (that was after the prison go straight to the Refugee), I’m joining Team Xtreme as well (focus on schools and university). Their might be repaint program at the prison. This what we normally do every year and do some design work at the prison. At the refugee, we have some families are Christian living there. We might need to rebuild their houses.
Simione is originally from Fiji, but living in Bamako, Mali with his wife Rachel. If you want to find out more about their ministry, including how you could involved, they can be contacted on their Facebook page.

YWAM Windhoek Partner with YWAM Lüderitz
Last month we talked a bit about YWAM Windhoek. One of the ministries that they engage in is partnering with other YWAM locations near them…
As part of reaching out to local YWAM bases and ministries, a group of staff went on outreach to serve alongside YWAM Lüderitz over the weekend. During this time, they had the privilege to share stories with children from the community, host prayer and worship nights, visit a school and also helped with the “Feed A Child” program.
Here’s what the base leader’s wife had to share;
“It has been such a great blessing and experience to have had the YWAM Windhoek outreach team with us. During their time here, we could really see the hand of God in their favour.
Firstly, it takes a lot to pioneer a base just as a family but we have been adamant about what God clearly spoke to us about making Him known in Luderitz. Our vision is to serve the community in our abilities through children’s programs, prison ministry and evangelism. We also want to introduce missions to the young generation, to stir up a fire in their hearts that will assure them that serving God is not boring at all, it’s actually adventurous and exciting.
Secondly, my highlight from this weekend has been the prayer nights we hosted at our home, it was such a beautiful time that we could invite our neighbors to join us in uttering a sound of prayer and worship unto the One who created us all. One of the A topics shared was “occupy while waiting” and that reminded me to remain steadfast but rejoice in the season of waiting and watch how the Lord does wonders for us. We are trusting the Lord for more staff and opportunities to expand the vision we have been called for, please pray with us and for us a family too.”

In the next months I’ll start gathering stories, and we can include a section on it in a future episode.
If you have suggestions for future stories, please let me know in the comments on the Youtube video, or at ywampodcast.com/144.
Is That Really You God? in German
Loren Cunningham’s book, Is That Really You God, has inspired thousands, if not millions, of people into ministry and missions. For me it was required reading on my Discipleship Training School, as I’m sure it was for many DTS students.
The book has been translated into 150+ languages, and is described as “a practical guide to hearing God’s voice and following His direction to change our hearts and our world”.
Sven Stuhrmann from YWAM Nuremberg contacted me recently to let me know that they just completed a German Audio Book version of Is That Really You God? Chances are pretty good that if you are listening to this, then you probably also consume other content via audio format.
I have included links to a few different places that you can pickup the German audio version of Is That Really You God in the show notes at ywampodcast.com/144.

Tragedy in Arusha Tanzania Update
Last month we reported about the death of 11 YWAM missionaries in a tragic bus accident in Arusha, Tanzania. We have this update from the team …
We are grateful for your prayers over these last two weeks since the Arusha Tragedy. We have felt your love from around the world, and have seen God’s hand guiding us through this.
We are happy to share that all of those injured in the accident are recovering well, and that my mid week all 11 remains have been repatriated back to the families spread out in eight countries, and all funerals will have been completed . We are grateful for the doctors and hospital staff in Arusha and elsewhere who have given great care to our dear friends. We ask that you continue to pray for the injured as they continue to recover and heal both in the hospital and at home. Some will require much longer in hospital, but after air vacs, have been completed, everyone is where they need to be now to receive their on going care.
Please continue to pray for the families and friends of our missionaries, those who are still recovering from their injuries, those who responded to the accident, and the many Y bases who have lost leaders as they grieve and find their next steps forward in both life and ministry without their beloved leaders.
View this video that will explain how we are planning to use all of the funds that have come in so far, to assist immediate, and long term needs and to be a blessing to the families and the children left behind.
Donations are being collected by YWAM Kona at ywamkona.org.
YWAM Together 2024 in Manila, Philippines
YWAM’s first “family gathering” since 2018 will be happening in Manila, Philippines from September 2 – 6, 2024.
The next global YWAM gathering will be held in the heart of one of Asia’s megacities, in the capital of the beautiful and hospitable nation of the Philippines, Manila! This will be the first YWAM global staff gathering after the ‘Covid era’ and after the graduation of our founder, Loren Cunningham. We know we are in an important season as a mission and we are excited to be able to gather together as a YWAM family!
The gathering will be hosted at Christ’s Commission Fellowship Church (CCF) – home to one of the Philippines & Asia’s largest Church movements.
“All YWAM staff, students and associates are invited to reunite together in 2024.”
In line with a nationwide vision within the Body of Christ to reach the younger generation of Filipinos, YWAM outreach teams are being invited to stay on afterwards to partner together with local churches for outreach into schools.

YWAM in Haiti
There has been a lot of dramatic news coming out of Haiti in the last few weeks, including the resignation of the Prime Minister. Many of our locations in Haiti have been preparing for the unrest that they expected, including beefing up security and building walls and gates to their locations.
We have these relatively recent reports from four of our locations …
YWAM Les Cayes
YWAM Les Cayes finished their annual soccer tournament earlier this month, before the latest unrest really kicked off. It was a good time with their local community, and it brought together a lot of people for the tournament and ministry.
Earlier this month they completed the addition of their security gate, and during what they called the “calm before the upcoming storm”, they were busy collecting supplies, which included fuel for their vehicles and cooking.

YWAM Cap-Haiti
We would also like to ask that you would continue to keep Haiti and our ministry in Cap-Haitian in your prayers. With the gangs continuing to overtake more and more of Haiti it has caused food and gas shortages all over the nation. Which in tern, causes the food and gas that is available, to triple in price. For our ministry in Cap-Haitian we are grateful that at this point the area is peaceful and has not been affected by any gang violence. However, we currently have 45 people living in our base that we are needing to provide food, running water and electricity, but with this sharp price increase we are struggling to provide 3 meals a day and afford the gas needed to pump the running water for the staff and students in the base. Please pray for peace and stability for Haiti and that God would continue to show His faithfulness to our ministry during these uncertain times.

YWAM Saint Marc, Haiti
Last year YWAM Saint Marc completed building walls around their campus, which helps to provide greater security for the team that is there. They also ask to, “Please continue to pray with us for safety and protection over our city, campus and each student as we move forward. Things in Haiti are getting worse and darkness threatens to take over but we hope in the Lord. When He makes a way, we will continue to trust in His ways and not our own.”

YWAM Paisley Local Cleanup
A few months ago as YWAM we prayed for the important issue of “creation care”, which is being good stewards of the land that God has placed us on.
YWAM Paisley in Scotland is doing just that …
Here at YWAM Paisley, we emphasize the importance of caring for all of God’s creation. One of the ways we do this practically is by removing litter in local areas around Paisley. We partner with Team Up to Clean Up, an initiative by the Renfrewshire Council.
We want to serve our community by showing the people of Paisley the value that God has put in them and in their town.
Additionally, litter picking allows us to positively impact the environment by preventing plastic and other rubbish from disrupting the ocean and other natural ecosystems
It’s also really fun!

YWAM Windhoek
YWAM Windhoek in Namibia, in Southern Africa, produced this video to provide us with some insight about their ministry …
YWAM Windhoek has many opportunities for teams and individuals. They run ministries to help feed 20 of the most vulnerable families in their region, they also work to provide education for some of the younger people in their area, and there is also a guesthouse on their property.

The whole day is one big party with broadcast as the central theme. There are several celebrations with good worship and inspiring speakers. There are seminars and tours where you learn and experience more about broadcasting. In addition to that, there are also food trucks, delicious coffee, good music and activities for children and youth.
This year’s theme is: Radiate His Light. We are called to be God’s light in this world. God wants to use us with all of our gifts and talents. May we radiate God’s light, everywhere we go. During the day, this challenge will return in several ways.

Dental Trailer in Port Moresby
We received this update from YWAM Medical Ships Australia and Papua New Guinea (YWAM MS).
Marking World Oral Health Day, YWAM Medical Ships Australia & Papua New Guinea (YWAM MS) is pleased to announce the resumption and expansion of school visits by the YWAM Dental Trailer, scheduled to commence next month.
During Term 2, the YWAM Dental Semi-Trailer and its dedicated team will visit three schools in Port Moresby; Sevese Morea Elementary & Primary School, Kila Kila Secondary School, and Carr Memorial Adventist School.
The upcoming outreach will provide essential oral health education sessions and distribute Colgate Bright Smiles Bright Futures packs (includes a toothbrush, toothpaste and educational flyer) to approximately 3,400 students.
Mr. John Wood, Managing Director of Colgate-Palmolive, expressed deep pride in their support of the program.
“In addition to supplying the Bright Smiles Bright Future packs, we are also offering financial support and facilitating the employment of a local dentist and dental therapist in the trailer.
“This not only meets a critical need but also provides valuable employment opportunities for Papua New Guinean dental professionals who have faced challenges in securing work,” stated Mr. Wood.
With a focus on aligning with WHO treatment standards, the Dental Trailer will provide treatment to students in grade prep, grade 5, and grade 9. Treatment services will encompass restorations, extractions, cleanings, and fluoride treatments.
Outfitted with three dental chairs and sterilization facilities, the dental semi-trailer is equipped to deliver comprehensive dental care services to the students.

11 YWAM Staff Die in Car Crash in Tanzania
Eleven missionaries with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) died in a tragic traffic accident on Saturday near Arusha, Tanzania. The incident, involving multiple vehicles, also claimed the lives of several others, including the bus driver. By last reports two key mission leaders remain in critical condition.
Here is the update from February 25:
With the ripples of the difficult news of the death of 11 YWAMers in a terrible traffic accident in Tanzania, our prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased. There are five injured individuals still hospitalized and two more people in critical condition to be rallied around in prayer. We thank the Lord that one of the hospitalized, Isaac B., has been released to return home. (Due to security reasons, we cannot release the full names).
Local and international leaders from YWAM are gathering to support the team on the ground, who are now faced with many details of repatriation, medical evacuation, family support, funeral arrangements, and many other logistics. We invite you to help with these expenses with an opportunity to give on the following link. The estimated cost of all of these arrangements is approximately $350,000. Thank you to those who are already contributing.

There are regular updates to the condition of those still in hospital, and the needs of the survivors and their family on ywam.org. The names of the people involved in the accident can also be found in the updates over at ywam.org.

Wildfire Damage in Chile
In early February wildfires torched many highly populated areas in Chile. The fires killed over 150 people, and damaged and destroyed more that 5000 homes.
Our YWAM location in Viña del Mar was spared by the fire because a nearby avenue created a kind of wind corridor between two hills, which redirected the flames away from the building. The director of the YWAM location, pastor Dionicio Viana, has transitioned the location to focus on helping the people affected by the fires. Four YWAM bases from around Chile have sent people to join the local team in removing debris from the streets and homes.
In some of the local areas few homes remain. Viana says that, “it looks like we were bombed, like a war. For the time since the fire, residents have been without water and electricity.
Last week some of the teams worked together to build a storage building to help store the aid that they have received, since the previous storage areas had collapsed. They will be distributing clothing and dolls that have been donated, as well as other much needed supplies.
The best place to get updates on the working happening there is on their Facebook Page, which is linked to in the show notes.

JOCUM Brazil Carnival Outreach
Carnival is five days of festivities, parades and public debauchery leading up to Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. YWAM Brazil, in addition to many other Christian groups and churches in Brazil, are using that opportunity to outreach to the revellers …
One of the most active groups during Carnival has been Jovens com uma Missão, known as JOCUM, the Brazilian branch of the U.S. organization Youth With A Mission.
According to Thiago Oliveira Carvalho, a missionary who has been working with the group for 25 years, JOCUM has been taking part in Carnival celebrations for 40 years and sees popular events, such as Carnival, as “a great opportunity to announce the Gospel to people who need a genuine encounter with Jesus.”
“People go to those parties looking for happiness. But all the Carnival offers is a temporary joy. We understand that sick people are the ones who need a doctor. That’s why we decided to be present there,” he told Religion News Service.
In cities like Ouro Preto (in Minas Gerais state), JOCUM organizes a “bloco,” a bloc of festivalgoers who sing and play typical Carnival instruments but represent the church. “People don’t expect that somebody will talk about Jesus amid that party. But that’s what Jesus used to do,” Carvalho said.

YWAM Samoa – Indonesia Outreach
A few weeks ago, we sent forth our dedicated team to Indonesia with a profound sense of purpose. They are a beacon of light, chosen to illuminate the Muslim world with hope and inspiration. Let’s join together in prayer, believing that the presence of our team in Indonesia is a divine assignment, and that God’s purpose will manifest through their efforts. We are confident that the impact of these Samoans will resonate far beyond borders, influencing nations and spreading positivity. May their journey be blessed, and may they be agents of transformation, touching lives and bringing about positive change in the world.

Foundations for Christian Peacebuilding – YWAM An Cuan
In a world that is experiencing a lack of peace, looking to Jesus for solutions is the best place to start:
YWAM An Cuan is launching a new 2-week mini-school exploring peace, justice, and reconciliation. They are running it two times this year, April 21-May 3, 2024 and November 3-15, 2024 in Northern Ireland!
The Foundations for Christian Peacebuilding school gathers people from diverse backgrounds around some of life’s hardest realities to ask, what is the Good News here? Participants in the school will explore how the story of the Bible and the life of Jesus speak to the real hurt of our world. The vision of Christian Peacebuilding is to empower believers to build bridges, heal wounds, and confront injustice. There is an opportunity to begin (or continue) the journey of uncovering God’s message of hope to all people at all times.

YWAM Saint Marc Projects
As we visit Haiti, we get this update from YWAM Saint Marc:
We did our de-brief on last years trade school and had our first meeting for this years school coming up very soon! We planned out the different class options we want to offer and have been meeting with teachers as well. Help them feed themselves will have lots of rice ready soon and we are excited to both buy some for our base kitchen and help them sell it to other people as well. Our first camp of the year- ‘Camp of Light’ is coming up in February and we are also preparing for our first Radikal youth group meeting of the year. God is moving and we are thankful for His provision and grace as we move forward.
The pictures in the post (and on your screen if you are watching this) show a project we are currently working on. We are fixing and building up all of our gates on campus for better security, as we are again going through a more serious period of unrest in Haiti. There are calls for a revolution and the streets/ main roads have been blocked off and unsafe all over the country this week. We want to ensure everyone who lives on and comes into our campus is as safe as possible. We also ask that you would pray for Haiti. For a peaceful resolution, for divine safety and for wisdom for all of the people in Haiti right now.

Latest Best Meme
Well, once again, YWAM Fernacememez takes the win this month with one of the YWAM Memes over on Instagram.
This month’s meme from them talks about the warning, “Don’t drink the unfiltered water in the Himalayas, it’s dangerous.”. That warning then gets thrown in the fire, so we can only guess that some of their staff and students on outreach decided against following that advice …
Again, it’s an easy one to relate to for almost anyone who has gone on outreach to locations with “questionable” water quality.
