We have a real treasure of a alien pursuit thriller for you this week: We're talking The Hidden from 1987! Wild action scenes, modest make-up effects, killer soundtrack -- it has it all! Directed by Jack Sholder, starring Michael Nouri, a young Kyle MacLachlin, Claudia Christian and a gang of familiar faces from 70's and 80's television, you won't want to miss this over-the-top yet restrained (huh?) scifi manhunt through peak 1980s Los Angeles.

Here we are again to scare your pants off talking about the 1997 straight-to-cable release Snow White: A Tale or Terror. Featuring Sigourney Weaver, Sam Neil and starring Monice Keena as the titular princess of folklore, this film don't make much sense if you aren't real familiar with the source material. But we had fun!

Boo! And welcome to the inaugural episode of Z & Keith's Annual DocOctShockRocktober Holler-ween Scream-along Spook-a-thon! In this, our first entry in a month of spooky-scary films, we're talking 2000's Final Destination! Along the way we visit Ricky Gervais' teeth, "pretty lady kiss time", Ali Larter's racism and the ghost of Rube Goldberg. Here is Leonard Roberts' essay from 2020 reflecting on his time on Heroes.

Darlene Conner makes friends with the new sl*t at school, brings her home to meet her conservative shitbag pa, Viper, and her malingering Charlie's Angel ma. The rest is... too bad. It's 1992's Poison Ivy! A near neo-noir kookoo bananas gem that blames a afab teen for, well, lots of shit.

Val Kilmer co-stars in this zany nerds v. the military industrial complex college comedy. We talk about the genre tropes this film manages to side-step compared to similar movies of the time, Star Trek, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, and how Z is confounded by Kilmer's haircut.

Maria Coughlin is having a bad day... Or at least she thought she was that is until she met Matthew: Matthew Slaughter.
You know how some times home computers used to become sentient if they downloaded too much information and overheated and then someone poured champagne on them? Well, wouldn't you know that's just what happened to ol' Miles Harding one fateful night in 1984. Yep, it's Electric Dreams! A Cyrano de Bergerac for the personal computing age mixed with music videos. Also, this movie helped establish the trope of the quirky female love interest being a cellist. And we wonder what is independent filmmaking in the current era.

Dragnet began as a radio series in 1949, created, produced and starring Jack Webb in direct collaboration with the Los Angeles Police Department. It was the great grandpapa of all police procedurals and laid the foundation for decades of copaganda to come.
