This week we discussed blood quantum and the many problems it creates for Native peoples.
In this episode we talk about how a lot critics have a lot to say about the missing recognition of the African America community (Hip-Hop) and appropriating Black Culture. For many years when I was growing up the only Indians I’ve seen was either seeing the arrest list on the local TV or seeing a cuz in’ playing “Indian #2” in a Kevin Costner movie. We reflect on what it means to have more indigenous people on the big screen of HULU. We will talk about on how our lives fit into Rez dogs!
PS: I am on Rez wifi so we have so,e tech difficulties during this episode.
Josh Thunder Little introduces himself, discusses pandemic events, and journey through life so far
I have started a brand in my name called Zuya, now there is many ways to look at this word but in the eyes of the late great Albert white hat. He defines the word as a journey because in our language there’s many words to say journey in my language. Orginally or how white people describe it, Zuya was define as “war party” or “war path” according to a white translator. The word described in Alberts book, is that this life we live is the journey to figure ourselves. Thats his definition of - “Zuya A life‘s journey.” Check out his book and check out this podcast.
In this episode I am covering a few questions some of the TikTok family asked me, one was “weightroom life” and the positives of that. Another was “spiritual guidance” and what that looks like. How I got there was no easy journey, when you’re born indigenous. When you are born and living that Rez life you have to be ready for everything no matter the obstacle. Tune in and hear my story, as always I love you.
Basically opening myself up more to my audience and showing my POV as an indigenous person going through an pandemic. Going through how I survive depression and mental health issues we was never taught to handle. This is my story and I hope people can relate. I want to be able to be more than just be a TikTok creator. This is me manifesting new doors, and opening some new areas in my life as a leader/speaker. I’m a brother, I’m a mentor, I’m Mekko Bearkiller. I did stumble on my words, but I left it uncut because we are relearning things that was taken away from us during the pandemic. One of the main things that was taken away is being a relative. Being a human.
