You'll never mistake him for anybody else.
When Zach Borg delivered you local sports highlights or told stories about local athletes on both KDLT-TV and KSFY-TV the last 12 years, his style was boldly and uniquely his own.
Energetic, detailed, fun. He was stocked with a treasure chest of his own Sportscenter-y catch phrases — "Tre, Bien!" — and a boatload of hype videos with bangin' rock 'n' roll bed music. As importantly, he possessed the deep passion and dedication to literally go the extra miles to show you what, and who, was going on in the smaller communities that don't always get the love they deserve.
Zach Borg loved the local TV craft — whether he was covering South Dakota State's football national championships and Summit League jamborees, or capturing a Dakota State game on a sweltering August afternoon or frigid winter night. Icy backroads and impending deadlines, be damned!
So, why did he leave it? What will he miss the most? What will he miss the least?
And, what's next?
Never short on words or opinions, Borg saddled up to the Gateway Lounge bar stool to shoot the bull with Happy Hour host John Gaskins for over an hour over beers that includes a litany of memories of all the epic events and developments in a city and state that blew up the same way (an image of) his head did when ESPN College Gameday came to Brookings in 2019 (look it up).
This is the first time you've heard from Borg here at Sioux Falls Live, Happy Hour, and other Forum Communications sports ventures in South Dakota. We can assure you — it won't be the last.
