When we don’t tend our own inner fire it may go out, and we may find it difficult to find purpose, direction, and motivation in our lives. Our first responsibility to the self is to tend the fire of our own desires. To notice and allow them to run through us. That does not mean every desire is acted upon. Rather every desire is noticed, honored, and respected. Then the will is used to work with those desires in a constructive way.
