Dr Anthony Ngoma leads and manages teams of scientists and engineers working on short-reach communication networks and applications at the main research center for Corning Incorporated a 160 years old high tech company located in Corning, New York. He has established himself as an international expert in optical fiber and wireless communications. He has been actively involved in Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs), optical fiber communications research and fiber-wireless networking technology research for 14 years spanning three continents; Africa, Europe and North America(specifically the US).

Dr Ngoma has been named 2013 Scientist of the Year by the Black Engineer of the Year Awards in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (BEYA STEM). He was selected from a pool of outstanding technology leaders from across the United States, from well known institutions and Fortune 500 companies, which typically include institutions such as NASA, and companies such as IBM, General Motors, The Boeing Company, Chrysler and others. Dr Ngoma will be honored with the year's top MIRS award at the 28th Black Engineer of the Year Awards in Science and Technology, Engineering and Math (BEYA STEM) Global Conference convening in Washington , DC February 2014. He is our featured guest on PERSPECTIVES to discuss his work and the significance of his award.

Wendy Chanda Mutale is the Founder & President of Touch of an Angel a nonprofit organization that provides basic necessities to newborn babies in Zambia born to underprivileged mothers. They work with prenatal clinics (ante-natal) in impoverished neighborhoods to identify pregnant women who lack basic necessities for the baby after they give birth.Touch of an Angel works with new mothers to assist them in building support networks to find ways to sustain themselves and their babies. They collect information from them that we store in our mothers outreach database that allow us to learn more about their individual circumstances. What is learnt enables to determine effective ways to assist them by conducting different workshops on skill acquisition, communication skills, personal development, women empowerment, networking skills and other custom workshops driven by the mother's needs. Wendy is our featured guest on Perspectives as she shares how this whole idea was birthed and the special things planned for the future.
