Mr Savior Mwambwa is the Executive Director of the Centre for Trade Policy and Development, he is known as Zambia’s Tax Justice campaigner and we have a great opportunity for you to hear all about the fantastic campaigning he is doing to stop mining companies like Glencore dodging their taxes in Zambia. Zambia contains rich copper deposits – a crucial revenue source that can support investment in basic services, like schools and hospitals. Mr Mwambwa has identified and says, “the mining companies are not contributing to the Zambia economy, because of the tax regime.”  Through the CTPD’s campaigns, he has highlighted evidence of large scale tax dodging being perpetrated by FTSE 100 mining corporation Glencore subsidary company the Mopani Copper Mine. ActionAid estimates that the company’s dubious practices potentially cost the Zambian government up to £76 million a year in lost corporation tax - much more than Zambia receives in UK aid each year.

Mr Mwambwa Savior is putting pressure on the government to get tough on Mopani, and make sure they start paying their fair share.

Ms, Mary Bizike Nalongo is the Director of Uganda Disable women Association-UDWA. The Association helps vulnerable Disabled women since 1986. It was started in 1986 by women with disabilities with the goal of contributing to a process of restoring hope and improving the quality of life of women with disabilities and their families while continuing to raise awareness on the plight of people with disabilities in Uganda.  UDWA also evolves men with disabilities in its activities given that they too face the same challenges as women with disabilities. UDWA, Maria for years worked hard to contribute to restoring hope and improving the quality of life of women with disabilities and their families while continuing to raise awareness on the plight of people with disabilities in Uganda.

UDWA will be our link in East Africa as we aim to reach many parts of Africa through Blog Broadcasting and working with local news organization to participate in dissemination Disability Challenge awareness.

Mr. Bwalya is an agricultural entrepreneur who is starting out as a small scale farmer in the Chipundu area of Mpika.  His enterprise is currently registered as J.B Agro Dealers. His enterprise will engage in the cultivation of various commodities including bananas.  Mr.  John Bwalya started the enterprise with an ambitious vision to develop his farm into a self sustaining enterprise that would employ locals and contribute to the local economy through the supply of agricultural produce. I found this vision inspiring and worthy of an audience.

Teurai Chanakira, is the founder of ELIZABETH CHANAKIRA CANCER TRUST. The Trust is a non profit organisation that supports marginalized cancer patients in Zimbabwe & provides practical, nutritional tools for better health. ECCT aims to eventually expand to help Africans in other countries in Africa and Zimbabweans/minority groups internationally.

Cancer is now the leading cause of death globally and the World Health Organisation states that at least 70% of cancer deaths occur in developing countries. Latest statistics from the Zimbabwe National Cancer Registry show that cancer is a disease killing more Zimbabweans  than HIV/AIDS, yet there is limited assistance for cancer patients and their families, minimal media interest, limited public awareness and knowledge of the disease.
