This is by far the greatest moment for this podcast so far. For this interview I travelled to Great Britain to meet up with Luke Thompson, a stand-up comedian, English teacher and most importantly the person who made Luke’s English Podcast – the best English podcast for English learners on the internet. Just to remind everyone, he also happens to be the reason I started doing my own podcast.

This is the first part of a three-part interview with him. The whole interview was recorded in St. James’s Park in London.

How does it feel to meet your idol? How badly can it affect your English? How and why did I come across Luke’s English Podcast and which was the first episode I heard? Which specific TV series do we talk about? How should language teachers teach today? How does Luke do the impression of the announcer that I recorded on a ferry? In this final episode of this series, I will sum up my whole holiday in England. I will tell what kind of impact it had on me. I did publicly set myself an aim, which feels slightly binding now. The plan is ambitious and it is not going to be easy but there is no gain without pain. We will see what future brings and I can never know unless I really try to go for it.

In this particular episode, I will be speaking about how I met Luke Thompson in London. It was an emotional moment for me since I felt completely starstruck.

The first entry is recorded just about 15 minutes after the end of our meeting. You can clearly tell how jumbled up my thoughts were. By the way, this was the most edited entry of all entries of this 4-part holiday series as I found myself to be unable to speak fluently. The meeting with Luke has clearly taken its toll. I did, however, try to fix it with a similarly ponderous reflection entry which I recorded the following day.

Besides this predominant theme of meeting Luke, I also speak about my other experiences such as shopping, getting dehydrated, and visiting my friends, and as the icing on the cake, you can enjoy my fail of trying to convince my favourite kebab seller to say hi to the listeners of the podcast.

This episode was not planned at all. After watching the demolition of the Brazilian national team by Germany, I took the initiative and called a native speaker Ethan (you might know him from previous episodes) to hear his own comments on this amazing match.

We spoke about the match, about how both nations’ supporters must feel now and how their feelings can idiomatically be expressed in English. We also briefly touched upon the England national team as well as Luis Suaréz.

After the Skype call proper, I played an association game with myself and then actually placed it before the chat with Ethan.

This is the second part of the interview with my cousin about the World Cup.

What football teams could we hypotetically play for in the World Cup considering our skills? Why did Lusi Suarez bite the Italian player? What are our theories behind this incident.

We also try to answer questions from the listeners and at the end you can listen to a short language analysis.

In this episode we got together with my cousin Honza to talk about the ongoing World Cup in Brazil.

In the first part we talk about who we think might win it, who our favourite teams are and we also touch upon the fact that Muslim players didn't drink during the match because of Ramadan.

After this there is a language analysis part in which my dog also makes an appearanace.
