Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated Thunderbolts film has been affected by the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, according to Deadline. The strike has led Marvel to temporarily halt production on Thunderbolts, which was scheduled to commence filming in Atlanta in three weeks. Sources indicate that production is expected to resume once the strike is resolved. Similarly, Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series Wonder Man was also in the middle of filming when production came to a standstill due to the strike.
HBO is currently in the early stages of developing a Game of Thrones sequel series centered around Kit Harington’s character, Jon Snow. Francesca Orsi, HBO’s head of drama, provided an update on the project in an interview with Deadline. Although Harington is attached as a star and executive producer, it is still uncertain whether the spinoff will ultimately move forward. The series, tentatively titled “Snow,” would continue Jon Snow’s story after the events of Game of Thrones, where he killed Daenerys and was sent back to the Night’s Watch. HBO has multiple Game of Thrones spinoffs in the works, including “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,” which will adapt George R.R. Martin’s “Tales of Dunk & Egg” novellas. However, due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, production on these spinoffs, including the Jon Snow project, is currently on hold. The second season of “House of the Dragon,” another Game of Thrones prequel series, is expected to premiere in 2024 and is unaffected by the strike. Both Game of Thrones and the first season of House of the Dragon are available for streaming on HBO Max.
