Robin and I appreciate traveling for many reasons.  It gives us a new perspective on different cultures, takes us out of our current rituals and patters to open us up to new experiences and expands our shenanigan influence.  Todays tangent stays on task, for the most part, as we share stories of the places we've navigated, talk about some of the areas of the world we wish to travel soon and lose track of the conversation and talk about random other things.  Hence the "most part" comment. Get out there and see the world.  There are beautiful people and places that you have yet to discover.  And those experiences can change your life.

This week we are talking about one of my favorite topics, plant medicines.  Plant medicines have been in my life for a very long time, but I only started using them consciously within the past 10 years or so.  In this episode we will talk about our personal experiences with various types of plant meds from holy basil and turmeric to cannabis and psilocybin.  I think the point we want to get across is that there are responsible ways to use plant medicines, but as with all things, it is up to you to define responsible.

 Welcome back to ZNZ!  Today we chat about why I don't like The Beatles.  Now before we get ourselves worked up, I do understand the impact The Beatles made in the music industry and the culture of their time, but it's just not for me.  We tap dance through a few other "universally loved" bands that we may or may not be a fan of, but we did discover something special through our conversation today.  Apparently, if you mix all the Rainbow Sherbet flavors together, you unlock the next level of the universe!  Don't believe me, try it yourself.  If it doesn't work, you're clearly doing it wrong.

F@(K Yeah!  Today we are talking about swear words.  We both swear a fair amount and have heard the stereotypes throughout the years, but fuck that!  A properly placed swear word can really drive a point home, or make a joke funnier or just be used as filler words.  We do use "like" and "um" way too much.  We venture around our uses of which words and why as well as which words we'll never use.  (The infamous "C" word).  So sit the fuck back and listen to what we love to do.  Talk shit about random shit.

This week on Zen and Not Zen, we talk about the illusive work life balance.  This seems to be a topic that a lot of us are searching for and all have our own version of.  We tangent all over the place with this topic.  So much so, that we talk about attempting to make a yarn chart to see how we arrive to some of the tangents we land on, but that would probably look like a serial killers map.  We share our version of what work life balance would look like for us, if and or when we find it.  This is one of those subjects that is best defined by the person seeking it, but enjoyed by everyone by proxy once found.

This weeks tangent is a viewer request from our buddy Brandon Youngblood, and hits home with both Robin and I.  Today we are talking about how we manage our friendships with people who do and don't have kids.  This can get a little tricky as we introduce little ones into the world.  I had kids when I was young and Robin is currently childless, so we each have our own perspectives on this.  But although Robin doesn't have kids, he, and the Wu Tang have something in common.  They are both for the kids.  But eff all that, we end up talking about Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2.

Aliens man!!  In this weeks tangent, we talk about aliens.  And oddly enough, I think this is the most we've ever stayed on topic...or at least topic adjacent?  We hit up most of the stereotypical alien things, but with our Zen and Not Zen twist on it.  We talk crop circles, abductions and even mating with aliens.  Robin shares his strong distaste for M. Night. Shyamalan and I talk about some of the ways the subject of aliens has made its way across my leanings over the years.  This is one of my favorite conversations yet.
