Every once in a while the butterfly gets away, or more precisely, price moves away. So, we can abandone the trade, or we can make an adjustment just in case it decides to flirt back towards us so we can smash it and collect all the profit.

But today was one of those days that after a positive Jobs Situation report, it appeared to lift the market, only for it to be stuck, like a free wheeling tire in Mississippi mud. We all but gave up, but it ain't over until it's over, and the fat lady had yet to sing.

You don't know what a Nor'Easter is? It's basically an unnamed hurricane force storm that is specific to the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of New England, and is characterized by the winds coming from a north eastern direction. This particular storm reached hurricane force 2 winds for a sustained period of time and dumped as much as 13 inches of rain.
The storm also knocked out the power of at least 1/2 million people, some of which are still without power. This storm totally ruined nothing as far as our trading goes, because if I were able to trade, I would not have taken a position...so, you didn't miss anything!
It's really cool when you do the analysis, set your entry and target, then open a 2 minute chart to get a precise, calculated entry. Sounds good and feels good when it all comes together. You're in a trade by your design, you're bending the market to your will.
Now, can you get out with the same deft accuracy, and capture, or maximize your profit, or minimize your loss according to your well crafted plan? Well, good on ya if it worked out that way, that's the way you're supposed to do it, day in and day out, right?
The only problem is that it rarely works out that way. And when it does, you are surprised, not brimming with confidence, and hopeful that you'll get out with a profit, but in your heart you are prepared for the worst. Shoulda hung the order, would have been a whole new level of relief and success.
If you have been following the podcast for a while, then you know that we sell premium, we put on trades with asymmetric risk to reward, and we employ volume profile to help us model our trades. What you may not know is that we are not focused on income or any other trite goals. We are focused on the process.
We understand that things change, it is the only constant. So we embrace change and learn from it, making our practice of our methods stronger with each iteration. It's an Agile approach to trading. Otherwise known as Kaizen, literal translation is Good Change, also known as continuous Improvement. This is the KEY to our success.
Well, that's what this episode is about. A better way to trade conventional options strategies using an unconventional method.
