Walt Disney was a believer in recency bias. This means that whatever the last thing is you did, THAT is what people remember.

You might have 100 good movies released, but the 101st interaction causes the media and critics to throw everything they have at harming your reputation.

Humans are like goldfish, we often forget anything but what happened most recently.

I go through my thoughts on what it means to be as good as your last picture, and how it drives me to make sure ever "picture" I release is as high-quality as I can possibly achieve.

The things that are the hardest to do often have the biggest impact.

In this episode, I am going over a recent experience with an employee. 3 months ago the output was great, projects were getting done fast, and then it slowed down. A lot. They started to miss a 15 minute daily connect. Things that should take an hour or 2 started to take significantly longer.

This is the process I went through to meet with them, talk about how they can improve their performance, and get them back on track.

I worked for months to grow my cooking channel... and right when I was about to hit parabolic growth, I took my foot off the gas.

I justified it that I just got a promotion, started a new relationship, and that I needed that extra time. I could push off making videos for a few days.

Those few days turned into weeks. Those weeks into months. Now 4 months later... if I continued on the same trajectory as before, I would have had over 10x the results I got in the 4 months leading up to it. I took my foot off the gas when I should have put my foot down all the way.

I learned one of life's most valuable lessons while I was on a hike with my girlfriend.
