  • How do you continuously grow in your craft? @jamesnwong

Q from Jophi Patacsil: How do you continuously grow in your craft?

Continues investment in your craft may it be for your art or for your career is a must if you want to grow! I learned this late (can you say being at 27 years old is late? lol).

A bunch of excuses before, one positive that the pandemic gave was free time. I took it upon myself to study and invest in myself. May it be paid learning, from youtube

How about you? How do you continuously grow in your craft?

  • What are the challenges in pursuing dance during the pandemic? @jamesnwong

Q from Jop Melchor: What are the challenges of pursuing dance during the pandemic and what did you do to keep the fire alive?

Personally, it was just this Feb 2021 that I started moving again. Small pockets of freestyles here and there. At one point during the pandemic last year, even when we were still training for School of Goodlock, it just felt like it wasn’t the same because it isn’t. Really appreciate my crewmates for thinking of ways on how to enjoy each training but the uncertainties, the lag and the delay in technology and other factors somehow took a toll on me.

Dance-wise, it is true, it was really challenging for our mental health. That’s why I am happy to see friends who are getting their groove back!

Slowly I am getting my groove back, I’m just not confident in taking a video.

    Haha!

What were your challenges in dancing during the pandemic? And how did you keep the fire alive?

  • Aspire and Persevere with Jophi Patacsil | S1E6 #TheMoonlockPodcast

Do you still remember the first experience that ignited your passion for your art or maybe the first person/people you were with?

For Jophi and I, our passion for dance was ignited from a simple class talent show. In my case, that talent show experience gave me the confidence to join my HS crew which eventually built the foundation for future opportunities.

We didn’t realize it then, some time in 2006, that a simple talent show will eventually lead to great things. Jophi was able to perform in various UPLB events with Wyre Underground, and a Skechers Finals appearance (lakas maka-NBA) to name a few. Now an entrepreneur and an IT Manager, I just have this feeling that the best is yet to come for this man.

Catch Jophi Patacsil as we talk about how a simple talent quest became one of our foundation to pursue dance and how it opened a lot of opportunities for us growing up, his 2020 movement and challenges that lead up to his vision of #BiyahengPangarap.

2020 gave us the opportunity to pause, reflect and shift our focus to the important things and people. We hope and pray our experiences and challenges, our different perspectives and realizations will be of value to you!

This is just the start, join us in our journey in living out the best version of our lives!
