What does it mean to be truly free? In a world where wounds, habits, and hidden battles often feel normal, Pastor Jon reminds us that Jesus didn’t come to help us manage captivity—He came to bring us out. As He said in John 8:36, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

In this message from our This We Believe series, Pastor Jon explores the biblical foundation of freedom through John 8, Luke 4, and Colossians 1. Freedom wasn’t a side project for Jesus—it was central to His ministry. He forgave sin, healed bodies, restored dignity, and confronted darkness everywhere He went. And He still sets people free today.

Pastor Jon also spoke pastorally to the reality we all face: salvation happens in a moment, but freedom is learned through surrender. Many of us have normalized patterns, wounds, or destructive habits, but Jesus wants access to every “room” of our lives—not to expose us, but to heal us. He walked us through a simple pathway toward freedom: Recognize, Repent, Renounce, Receive, and Resist.

This message is part of This We Believe: Exploring the Essential Truths That Shape Our Faith and Who We Are, a series on the authority of Scripture, who God is, the person and work of Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit, the purpose of the Church, and our mission in the world.

What does it mean to be empowered by the Holy Spirit? In a world that often feels heavy, confusing, and spiritually dry, Jaclyn Soza reminds us that God never intended His people to live without power. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit isn’t an upgrade for the “super spiritual”—it’s the promise of Jesus for every believer. As Jaclyn said, “Everybody gets to participate in what God is pouring out.”

In this message from our This We Believe series, Jaclyn explores the biblical foundation of Spirit baptism through Acts 1, Acts 2, and Matthew 3. The Holy Spirit doesn’t just dwell in us for salvation—He comes upon us for mission, boldness, freedom, and kingdom impact. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,” Jesus said, and Jaclyn shows how that same power is available to us today. From Elijah’s mantle to Pentecost, Scripture paints a clear picture: God empowers ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

She also speaks pastorally to every season of life—whether you’re hungry for more of God, wrestling with disappointment, or stepping into new faith—reminding us that hunger and surrender position us to receive everything God desires to pour out. The baptism of the Holy Spirit isn’t optional; it’s essential for living fully alive in the kingdom.

Who has the authority to define who we are? In a culture where identity is often shaped by feelings, desires, and shifting opinions, Pastor Jon reminds us that our truest identity isn’t discovered within—it’s received from our Creator. Because God made us, He alone defines us.

In this message from our This We Believe series, Pastor Jon explores the biblical foundation of sexuality and gender through Genesis 1 and 1 Corinthians 6. Our bodies aren’t random or accidental—they carry meaning, dignity, and design. As Pastor Jon said, “A mirror can show you what you look like…but it cannot reveal your identity.”

He also spoke to every season of life—whether you’re navigating questions, carrying wounds, or walking with loved ones—reminding us that temptation is not the same as sin, and that grace doesn’t affirm everything we feel; grace redeems everything we surrender. True freedom begins when we belong fully to Jesus.

What is marriage really meant to carry? In a culture where definitions shift and opinions collide, Pastor Jon reminds us that Biblical Marriage is not ours to redesign—it’s God’s creation, and because He created it, He alone defines it.

In this message from our This We Believe series, Pastor Jon explores the biblical foundation of marriage through Jesus’ words in Matthew 19 and Genesis 2. Marriage is more than companionship—it’s a covenant, a union, and a picture of Christ’s faithful love for His people. As Pastor Jon said, “Marriage carries covenant… sexual faithfulness… families and future generations.”

He also spoke pastorally to every season of life—married, single, divorced, or healing—reminding us that “you don’t need marriage to complete you. You need Jesus.” What we didn’t receive doesn’t have to determine what we get to build. With God’s grace, our homes and relationships can become testimonies of redemption and hope.

What are you building your life on? In a world full of shifting opinions and uncertainty, where can we find a foundation that never changes?

In this message, Pastor John continues our series This We Believe by exploring eternity and the hope we have in Jesus. Scripture says God has planted eternity in our hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11), and Jesus begins with comfort: “Don’t let your hearts be troubled… I’m going to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:1–3). Heaven is not about gates or streets of gold—it’s about being fully with God, whole and healed.

Pastor John also spoke honestly about hell as eternal separation from God, reminding us that warnings are meant to rescue. At the cross, God’s holiness and love meet, and Jesus bridges the gap we could never cross ourselves. Because He rose from the grave, pain and death don’t get the final word—your best days are still ahead.
