Who are you following—and why?
In this message, we are challenged to examine the posture of our hearts in following Christ and those whom God places over our lives. Using Jeremiah 3:15, we are reminded that God gives shepherds according to His heart to feed His people with knowledge and understanding.
Following God is not meant to be driven by convenience, charisma, emotions or what we can receive. True following requires conviction, submission, discipline, sacrifice and intentionality.
The message explores the importance of recognising the people God has appointed to help us fulfil His purposes and learning to follow those whose lives reflect Christ. We are also warned that following the wrong person can cause us to inherit their limitations, fears and unhealthy patterns.
Using Jesus' followers as an example, the message distinguishes between the multitude and the disciple. The multitude followed Jesus because of what they could receive—miracles, provision and personal benefits—but many walked away when following Him became difficult.
