  • Seek, Set, Put to Death, Part 2 (Col. 3:1-5)

by Elder Tim McCool (preached on May 18, 2014)

Today’s sermon is the second half of a powerful sermon preached many years ago at Zion Church by Elder Tim McCool, Pastor of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Echola, Alabama. We were looking at the idea of seeking some things, setting some things before our eyes, and putting to death some things in our lives that prevent us from seeking God and setting Him first in our daily walk. Join us today for the second half of this sermon from the Book of Colossians, about our discipleship in this life.

  • Acquaint Thyself With Him, Part 2 (Job 22:21)

by Elder Sam Bryant (preached on April 14, 2013)

Back several years ago, Elder Sam Bryant visited with us here at Zion Church and preached a powerful sermon about acquainting ourselves with God. In the first half of this sermon, which we posted yesterday, Bro. Sam began to teach us from Scripture how those who are born again ought to seek to know more and more about God. After pointing out that only the regenerate can engage in the practice of learning about God, he encouraged us to grow in grace and knowledge of God. Join us today for the second half of this powerful sermon, entitled “Acquaint Thyself With Him.”

  • Being Thankful For the Church, Part 2 (Ps. 100)

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on November 23, 2025)

There are many things we ought to be thankful for, as we learn in Psalm 100. In the first half of this sermon, we began to look at some of those things, including the fact that we are God’s children and will eventually be with Him for eternity. But in the latter part of this Psalm, we are instructed to “enter into his GATES with thanksgiving, and into his COURTS with praise!” This is a clear reference to the place of public worship, where God has promised to grant His greatest blessings in this life. Join us as we conclude our look today at how thankful we ought to be for the Church of the Living God.

  • Being Thankful For the Church, Part 1 (Ps. 100)

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on November 23, 2025)

In the season of Thanksgiving, the Lord led us to the 100th Psalm, which is the Psalm we often go to on the topic of “thanksgiving.” We see many things in this psalm that we should be thankful for, especially the fact that we are God’s people, the sheep of His pasture. But in today’s sermon, after looking at some of these blessings, we begin to focus upon the latter part of that passage, which reminds us that we should be thankful for the place where God has promised to meet with us more than any other: the Church. Join us today as we begin to see how thankful we ought to be for the Church of the Living God.
