In the sermon today, we ask the question, “Has the devil ever been your father?” The answer we most often find in the religious world is that there was a time when the devil was indeed our father, but through the exercise of our wills we became the children of God. But this doctrinal teaching is NOT supported by Scripture! Join us today as we learn from the Bible that, if we have ever been children of God, we have ALWAYS been children of God!

Have you ever felt overwhelmed? Do the troubles and stresses of life leave you feeling like you’re barely treading water, and your little vessel is about to be swamped? If so, you are in good company! David, the sweet Psalmist of Israel, had the same kinds of feelings, and expressed them in Psalm 69. Join us today as Elder John Morgan Owens begins taking us through these verses as he preaches about being overwhelmed.

As we began to see yesterday, the phrase “believeth in Him” does not set conditions on our eternal salvation; rather, it deals with our assurance here and now. Those who believe have great assurance that they are part of that “world” that God loved, and for whom He sent His Son to die. Today we will also learn that our belief must be “in HIM,” and NOT in something that we have done ourselves! Ultimately, we will see that the “condemnation” spoken of in the verses following John 3:16 has a timely application, and does not carry an eternal consequence for unbelief. Join us for the conclusion of this in-depth study of John 3:16, a verse about assurance and not about human achievement.

As we bring our in-depth study of John 3:16 to a close, we turn our focus to the phrase “believeth in Him.” It is important to understand that belief is a present condition, not a future action. In fact, this entire verse is about assurance and NOT about human achievement! Join us today as we begin looking at the word “believeth,” and find great assurance for each of God’s children who trust in the finished work of Christ.

As we continue looking at John 3:16, we are examining the main words in this verse to determine what they mean. As it is often said, before you try to understand what a verse means you need to know what the verse says – the words matter! We are currently learning about the word “whosoever,” which the religious world interprets as an invitation to dead alien sinners to accept Jesus and exercise their will to believe in Him. But that is NOT what it means, as we have begun to see! Join us today as we learn that “whosoever” simply means that anyone anywhere who finds himself quickened by the Holy Spirit and trusting in the finished work of Christ has the sweet assurance that he possesses eternal life.

As we continue in our exposition of John 3:16, we come to the word “whosoever.” Once again, the religious world generally misinterprets the significance of this word. Most of the time we hear that “whosoever” means that a dead alien sinner has the ability to exercise his will in order to become a believer, and thereby inherit eternal life. But as we have already learned, John 3:16 is not a verse of invitation, but a verse of assurance! Thus, we will see that “whosever” doesn’t place a burden on men to get themselves saved, but rather points us to the glorious truth that God has a people in all kinds of places, from all different races. And no matter what their circumstances are, each and every one of these “whosoevers” WILL be saved!

When we paused the message yesterday, we were examining what the word “world” really means. The religious world generally teaches that, everywhere you see the word “world” in Scripture, it means every person who ever has or ever will live. However, we were learning that that this definition just won’t work in Bible. Like all words in Scripture, even the world “world” must be interpreted according to its context! Join us today as learn more about this word, and what this precious verse of assurance really means for the child of God.

As we have seen in this series on “Rightly Dividing John 3:16,” the words matter! We’ve looked at the word “for,” which points us to Jesus’ declaration regarding the brass serpent in the wilderness. We’ve also looked at the word “loved,” which taught us that God didn’t just “love at” the world, He loved the world in an efficacious way! Today, we begin looking at the word “world”, which is so misunderstood by the religious world. Most people believe that “world” always means “every person who ever has or ever will live.” But is that an accurate understanding? Join us today as we begin to see the problems with this interpretation of the word “world.”

We began yesterday in a series entitled “Rightly Dividing John 3:16.” Many in the religious world mistake this verse as a regenerational verse, as opposed to an experiential verse. We have started our examination of John 3:16 by looking at the first word of the verse: “for.” This word “for” points to what has gone before, and what has gone before is Jesus’ declaration that He must be lifted up like the brass serpent in the wilderness. We have begun looking at that account from Numbers 21, and we are learning some important truths that apply to the sacrifice of Christ. As we conclude the sermon today, we turn our attention to another word in this verse: “loved.” Join us today as we continue our series on “Rightly Dividing John 3:16.”
