As we move into Romans 14, we confront head-on the problem of disunity. Paul begins this portion of Scripture by recognizing that there are “weaker” and “stronger” Christians within every church, who may not be on the same page about every single belief. The “weaker brother” tends to be more legalistic, and may not understand the liberty that we have in Christ in the same way that a stronger Christian rightly grasps the concept. Paul instructs the stronger brother to “receive” the weaker; but how does this impact our essential beliefs? Is Paul telling us to compromise on every matter? Join us today as we begin looking at the problem of disunity, and how we are to navigate the difficulties between “weaker” and “stronger” Christians.

As we have seen in our exposition of Romans, the last few verses of Romans 13 contains a “heavenly wake up call” to children of God who have been lulled into a state of spiritual slumber by the world. In the first half of this sermon, we began looking at a practical application of these verses through the life of Samson. The sad case of Samson shows us how a child of God can slip into spiritual “sleep” without even knowing it! Join us today for the second half of this sermon.

In this follow-up sermon on the last few verses of Romans 13, we examine the life of Samson, one of the great judges of the nation of Israel. Although he did many mighty things in the service of God, he nevertheless was lulled into spiritual sleep by the enticements of the world. As we began to see yesterday, Paul concludes the 13th Chapter of Romans with a “wake up call” for children of God. This warning is for those who have been born again, NOT for the unregenerate! It is a call to action for those who have gotten lax in their service. In the first half of the message, we dealt with the first command: Wake up! Today, we conclude this sermon by looking at the last two commands in this passage: “Get dressed,” and “get busy!”

As we get back to our series on the Book of Romans, we find a “heavenly wake-up call” at the end of Chapter 13. In this passage, Paul tells us that it is “high time” for us to awake out of sleep, and to get busy laboring in the Kingdom of God. There are essentially three commands in the passage before us: “Wake up!”, “Get dressed!”, and “Get busy!” Join us today for the first half of this sermon, as we look at the first command: “Wake up!”

In the first half of this sermon, we looked at three of the “lost things” Jesus mentioned in Luke 15. When we paused the sermon, we were in the middle of examining the first of two lost sons, whom we usually call “the Prodigal Son.” Today, we finish up our look at the Prodigal, and we find that in truth there were TWO lost sons in this parable! The Prodigal Son was lost TO the Kingdom, but the older son was lost IN the Kingdom. Join us today as we conclude our look at the “lost things” of Luke 15.
