Dentistry is a broad subject involving numerous sub-specialties, most of which need to function together. Managing a dental clinic specializing in numerous specialties can pose certain challenges, especially since it’s not possible for one dentist to specialize in all areas.
Our team at Zircon Medical recently hosted Dr. Alberto Cunha, the CEO and clinical director of OralMED Saúde in Portugal, on our podcast series to discuss managing multidisciplinary dental clinics.

The dental implant community currently works under the assumption that titanium intolerance and corrosion aren’t real risks to the patient. If there’s a complication or negative reaction, it’s often blamed on the implant technique, prosthetic work, or the patient’s health and lifestyle. There’s an emphasis on selecting the “ideal” patient for dental implants, but only a handful of patients can actually meet the requirements necessary to be “ideal,” and there’s a growing need to focus on dental implants with long-term stability in the “average” patient.
Our team at Zircon Medical recently hosted Dr. Sofia Karapataki, a world-renowned dentist, periodontologist, and implantologist, on our podcast series to discuss the myth of the “ideal” dental implant patient and the need to shift from titanium to zirconia implants.

At this point, it’s clear that metal-free dentistry is the next stage in the evolution of dentistry. Ceramic implants, for example, have already proven to be safer and more effective alternatives to titanium implants. However, the medical community still has a long way to go to truly embrace metal-free dentistry and implantology in all of its forms.
Our team at Zircon Medical recently hosted Dr. George Pamborides, a member of the International Academy of Ceramic Implantology (IAOCI), on our podcast series to discuss metal-free dentistry and ceramic implantology.

Patients can often be extremely anxious during dental treatments — all dentists are aware of this fact. As such, a huge component of dentistry involves getting patients to trust you and feel comfortable. When it comes to periodontal care, dentists must also inculcate positive dental hygiene habits to prevent periodontal problems in the future. After all, the success of periodontal therapy hinges on the patient’s willingness to maintain optimal oral hygiene.
Our team at Zircon Medical recently hosted Dr. Ana Cortes on our podcast series to discuss how to make patients comfortable during periodontal treatment.

Dentists must often navigate considerable resistance from their patients, especially since so many dental treatments are preemptive or preventative. Furthermore, patients can’t always see the results of their often painful and expensive treatments, leading to the assumption that they’re being upsold on treatments they don’t need. This creates a massive hurdle for dentists who must impress upon their patients the need for treatment. In order to overcome such hurdles, dentists must change their patients’ perceptions of dentistry.
Our team at Zircon Medical hosted Dr. Emmanuelle “Emma” Zennie on our podcast series to discuss how to change patients’ perceptions of dentistry for their benefit.

Full-mouth rehabilitation is a complex procedure that necessitates knowledge of multiple disciplines of dentistry, including orthodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics. Because of the complexities involved in the procedure, the value of curating a streamlined and dynamic workflow cannot be understated. Dr. Giacomo Armani’s dental clinic follows a multi-disciplinary approach to full-mouth rehabilitation to ensure optimal results and efficiency.
Our team at Zircon Medical hosted Dr. Armani on our podcast series to discuss the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach to full-mouth rehabilitation and his team’s comprehensive, holistic workflow.

Working with children in the role of a pediatric dentist necessitates a certain temperament — you just have to love kids and be incredibly patient. Being a good dentist is important (of course), but technical skills would only be useful if you can get a child to open their mouth. And that’s perhaps one of the biggest challenges — gaining a child patient’s trust. At least that’s what Dr. Jameela Haq, the pediatric dentist at KU64, says about her work.
Our team at Zircon Medical recently hosted Dr. Haq on our podcast series to discuss, among other things, how to make a child-friendly space or environment within a dental clinic.
