When George Bizet’s Carmen was first performed, it wasn’t well-received because of its gritty subject matter and fiercely independent female lead. Today it’s one of the most often performed of all operas. Piedmont Opera will present Bizet’s masterpiece at High Point Theatre with mezzo-soprano Zoie Reams singing the title role.
