Zombie Take-Out: The b-movie and cult movie podcast

Scotto and Uncle John return to the Star Trek universe to discuss the fourth film in the franchise, a time travel epic that pits the crew of the enterprise against a marine biologist, a plastics manufacturer, a helicopter pilot & the U.S. military and has more in common with a road comedy than a science fiction movie. This week on Zombie Take-Out, from 1986, it's Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Is it really a romantic comedy? Which Sex Pistols song did the bus scene rip-off? Does the movie reference Chekhov's Gun? Scotto and Uncle John pay tribute to the cast of one of their favorite Britcoms by discussing the movie adaptation of the series. A film that follows the all too familiar sitcom trope of sending the cast off on a vacation and not too surprisingly doesn't quite manage to live up to the series. This week on Zombie Take-Out, from 1977, it's Are You Being Served. How does it compare to the series? Did Trevor Bannister play two roles in the film? Who should have been cast in the reboot? Scotto and Uncle John continue their Godzillogy by discussing the first Toho-produced installment of the classic Kaiju franchise since Roland Emmerich's '98 version. Not surprisingly, it completely ignores all of the previous Godzilla films. This week on Zombie Take-Out, from 1999, it's Godzilla 2000: Millennium. Was it a reaction to Emmerich's version? Scotto and Uncle John conclude their impromptu tribute trilogy by paying tribute to the late, great Alan Rickman with a discussion of a science fiction comedy that parodies both the stereotypical tropes of the genre and its infamously obsessive fanbase. This week on Zombie Take-Out, from 1999, it's Galaxy Quest. Did Shatner honestly not realize that Jason Nesmith was based on him? Was the Chompers scene an influence on Attack of the Clones?
