JOHN: THE GOSPEL OF BELIEF - John proclaims Jesus as the Lamb of God, but Jesus didn’t come just to forgive sins. That’s a part of the message. The forgiveness of sins is the means to a wonderful end. There will come a new heaven and a new earth. The graves will be opened up and our decaying bodies raised and transformed to be like Jesus’ own resurrection body.

MAKE YOUR LIFE BIGGER NOT JUST BUSIER - There is so much at stake. Hear with fresh ears the cry of One who died to reach the world. Hear the cry of One whose precious death can be wasted by disciples who don’t carry their own cross with joy - who fail to make Christ look magnificent by the thousand and one ways they daily betray the preciousness of His love for them. Carry your cross with pride and joy. This is the surest way to find a big, expanded, non-wasted life.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CHRISTIANS SIN - You and I can’t save the whole world, but we close this series on judgment looking at ourselves. Remember the precious parable of the dragnet. Judgment comes as the result of avoiding the present pull of God on your heart. The only life you can be sure to change is your own.

MAKE YOUR LIFE BIGGER NOT JUST BUSIER - Beware of theologies that fixate on the blessings to the point of minimizing the cost of following Jesus because if there is no cost - if we shun cross-bearing - we have no observable way to magnify Christ in this world. We’ll be limited to the words of our worship songs.

MAKE YOUR LIFE BIGGER NOT JUST BUSIER - Some truths are so obvious we don’t stop to consider them. You only get one earthly life. The greatest tragedy in all the world is to waste it, to make it smaller than it was meant to be, because you can’t get it back once it’s gone. The clock never moves backward - not for one second. The time of your life is the most precious commodity you have, of far greater value than your stocks or bonds or other investments.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CHRISTIANS SIN - The only reason people don’t consider the certainty of God’s coming judgment and turn from their wickedness is they must not be convinced of the reality of the danger they are in. Jesus says we know this is true because they prepare for coming danger in all other areas of life. Hear the Word of God with all of its weight attached to each sentence and paragraph. Capture the ideas instead of just knowing the jargon. This is the way to have the truth set you free indeed.
