It is clearly possible for us to think we are Christians without being Christians at all. It is possible for us to delude ourselves and to imagine that we are Christians when we are not.

The persecution, Satan’s attempt to stamp out the church’s fire merely scattered the embers and started new fires around the world. In the words of the early church Father Tertullian, the blood of the martyrs became the seed of the church.

Do you want to know what the character of God is like? Study Jesus.

Do you want to know what the holiness of God is like? Study Jesus.

Christmas is about the Creator of the universe, who is not himself part of the universe, moving himself, in the person of his Son, into the universe that he made.

That Christ came into the world to make a way for us to come to God without being consumed in our sin by his holiness, is what the gospel is about.
