  • EU 263: Why Playing It Safe Won’t Make You Rich: A Guide to Purpose-Driven Success with Erica Carrico

Listen on Apple. Listen on Spotify. Listen on YouTube.

Starting a business that truly aligns with your soul isn’t just about making money—it’s about making an impact. But let’s be real, the road to purpose-driven entrepreneurship is filled with self-doubt, societal expectations, and a whole lot of “What if I fail?” moments. That’s why I sat down with Erica Carrico, an award-winning soul-business coach who helps women build six- and seven-figure businesses that reflect their true calling—without sacrificing their sanity. She’s done it all: built a multi-million-dollar business, overcome cancer, and raised her kids as a single mom. If you’ve ever felt stuck in a soul-sucking job and wondered, Is this all there is?—this is for you.

Step One: Finding Your Soul-Aligned Business Idea

So many women feel trapped in unfulfilling jobs but don’t know where to start when it comes to building a business from their passions. According to Erica, it all begins with three key questions:

    • What are you naturally good at?
  • What skills or gifts have people always complimented you on?
  • What lights you up?
  • If money weren’t a factor, what would you spend your time doing?
  • How can you use those gifts to create value and impact?
  • “I knew I was here for something more than the soul-sucking nine-to-five,” Erica says. “I did not feel like I came here to earn millions for companies that already had millions. That was the wake-up call I needed.”

Erica’s personal journey led her from corporate recruitment to heart-centered career coaching and eventually to helping women awaken their purpose. Her upcoming book, Awaken Your Purpose, breaks down the exact process for turning your passion into profit—without losing yourself in the process.

Overcoming Fear and Money Mindset Blocks

Let’s talk about fear—because it’s the biggest roadblock for women stepping into entrepreneurship. The common thoughts? Who am I to do this? Who would actually buy from me? There are already so many people doing this. Sound familiar?

Erica experienced this firsthand, especially when the people closest to her doubted her. “My husband at the time told me, ‘You can’t start your business. We have babies. You need a stable income.’” Instead of giving up, she took out a 0% interest credit card and bet on herself. “You have to dig deep,” she says. “If your business is truly aligned with your purpose, you’ll fight for it.”

Another major challenge? Charging your worth. So many women undervalue themselves, thinking, I can’t possibly charge that much! Erica’s first three-month coaching package? $675. Now? $15,000.

“I had a lot of work to do around my money mindset,” she admits. “I grew up thinking I had to rely on someone else to build wealth. Now I bring in $200K months. But it started with me slowly raising my prices and believing in the value I bring.”

Scaling Without Hustle: The Purpose-Driven Profit Formula

One of the biggest mistakes new entrepreneurs make? Focusing all their energy on social media. “People think they have to start with social media,” Erica says. “But if you’re not getting in front of new potential clients every month, you’re just spinning your wheels.”

Instead, she emphasizes external marketing—workshops, networking, guest speaking—so you always have fresh leads. “Social media should only be 20% of your marketing efforts. The rest should be actively getting in front of your ideal clients.”

And let’s not forget about burnout. Many women believe they have to hustle 24/7 to succeed. Erica’s solution? Delegation.

“The best investment I made wasn’t in my business—it was hiring a house assistant,” she laughs. “I don’t do laundry, I don’t grocery shop, I don’t even pick up dog poop. That freed me to focus on my business and my kids.”

But she also stresses the importance of hiring strategically in your business.

“I don’t want to be the smartest person in my company. I hire people who tell me what to do, not the other way around.”

    Your Story is Your Superpower

If there’s one thing Erica wants women to take away, it’s this: Your story has power. “The things we go through—the struggles, the setbacks—they all serve a purpose. Women connect with my journey because they see that if I can do it, they can too.”

If you’re feeling stuck, start by asking yourself: What am I tolerating? What in my life is here because I’m settling? Once you get clear on what you don’t want, you can start building a life and business that truly aligns with who you are.

Ready to take the leap? You can connect with Erica at ericacarrico.com, where she has free resources, courses, and info on her upcoming book.

“Always trust your intuition,” she says. “It’s always right. And it never steers you wrong.”

  • EU 262: Overcoming Imposter Syndrome & The Struggles We Don’t Talk About with Rashel Hariri

Listen on Apple. Listen on Spotify. Listen on YouTube.

Ever feel like you’re in a constant tug-of-war between your career ambitions and your family’s needs? The guilt, the imposter syndrome, the never-ending to-do list—it’s a lot. But today, we’re diving into the real talk with Rashel Hariri, founder of She’s Interesting and a marketing consultant who’s worked with powerhouse brands like McDonald’s and Shopify. Her journey from corporate to entrepreneurship is full of lessons on confidence, self-worth, and defining success on your own terms.

The Big Leap: From Corporate to CEO

Rashel spent over a decade climbing the corporate ladder, believing that stability and security were the ultimate goals. But something wasn’t sitting right.

“I was climbing a ladder that I eventually realized wasn’t even leaning against the right wall.” – Rashel Hariri

As a woman of color in corporate meetings, she saw firsthand how her ideas were sometimes ignored—until they were repeated by a male colleague. Frustration fueled her ambition to build something on her own terms, and the COVID-19 pandemic provided the clarity she needed to take the leap.

“I was so tired of putting on ‘corporate Rashel’ every day. I wanted to be myself, fully and unapologetically.” – Rashel Hariri

She quit her job and started her consulting business, building a six-figure income from scratch. But stepping away from corporate security wasn’t easy.

Imposter Syndrome: The Silent Confidence Killer

If you’ve ever felt like a fraud despite your accomplishments, you’re not alone. Imposter syndrome sneaks in at every level, making you question whether you really belong.

“No one in the room, from me to the CEO, actually knows what they’re doing. We’re all just figuring it out.” – Rashel Hariri

Rashel had to unlearn the belief that she had to be perfect before taking action. Instead, she embraced the mindset of constant learning and growth. Her advice? Challenge the voice in your head that says you’re not good enough. Confidence doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from showing up, learning, and adapting.

    The Real Sacrifices Behind Success

Entrepreneurship often sells a dream of freedom, but the reality? It’s hard work. Rashel admits that in the beginning, she worked more than she did in corporate, saying yes to everything and burning herself out.

“I left my job for more balance, and then I found myself working until 10 p.m. every night. Not exactly what I planned.” – Rashel Hariri

Balancing work, relationships, and personal time takes conscious effort. Having a supportive partner helped, but it also required difficult conversations about expectations, schedules, and priorities.

The Money Talk: Why Women Need to Think Bigger

One of the biggest lessons Rashel learned? Women don’t talk about money enough. From venture capital to government grants, there are funding opportunities out there—but many women feel they have to do everything alone.

“Men talk about money all the time. Women need to have those same conversations—negotiations, investments, pricing strategies. We need to stop playing small.” – Rashel Hariri

If you’re an entrepreneur, consider how outside funding could help you scale. Build a strong pitch, talk about your business with confidence, and don’t be afraid to ask for what you need.

The Emotional Toll: Letting Go of the Need to Prove Yourself

Growing up in an immigrant family, Rashel always felt the pressure to prove she was making the right choices. That perfectionist mindset carried over into her career, making her feel like she had to have everything figured out before taking action.

“I was always trying to figure out the formula—to make sure I never failed, to make sure I had all the answers. But the truth is, no one has it all figured out.” – Rashel Hariri

The moment she let go of that pressure, things started falling into place. She encourages women to embrace the uncertainty, take risks, and trust that they are capable of figuring things out as they go.

    Success on Your Terms

Entrepreneurship isn’t about replicating someone else’s formula—it’s about creating your own. Whether you’re launching a business, pivoting careers, or simply trying to show up fully in your life, success is what you define it to be.

Rashel’s journey is proof that taking risks, challenging limiting beliefs, and building a community of support can lead to incredible opportunities. If you’re battling imposter syndrome or self-doubt, remember: you are more than capable.

So, what’s stopping you from making your next big move?

  • EU 261: From Corporate Plateau to Entrepreneurial Freedom: How High-Achieving Women Can Build a Business and a Life They Love with Kasey D’Amato

Listen on Apple. Listen on Spotify. Listen on YouTube.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been guilty of this: stacking your calendar like you have 48 hours in a day and then telling yourself, “I’ve got this.” Yeah, me too. And Kasey? Oh, she lived it.

If you’re a high-achieving woman juggling a career, a side hustle, family, and about a million other responsibilities, this episode is for you. I sat down with Kasey D’Amato—business advisor, executive life coach, serial entrepreneur, and all-around powerhouse. She built a global skincare brand, a multi-seven-figure real estate portfolio, and a thriving coaching business, all while balancing a fulfilling personal life. But don’t be fooled—it wasn’t always smooth sailing.

“I was sleeping four hours a night, arguing with my husband, barely seeing my family,” Kasey shared. “Meanwhile, everyone thought I was thriving because from the outside, it all looked perfect.”

The breaking point? A doctor telling her she might have a heart attack before 36.

“Success cannot mean burning out, destroying your mental health, and waking up dreading the day. That’s not success.”

In this episode, Kasey gets real about the illusion of success, hitting rock bottom, and how high-achieving women can build a business and a life they actually love.

    The Rock Bottom Wake-Up Call

I don’t know about you, but sometimes we need a hard shove off the cliff before we realize we’re heading straight into burnout. Kasey hit that moment when she realized she was juggling way too much and something had to give.

“If you want life to be different, you have to change the way things are today,” she said.

That meant making some tough decisions. Kasey walked away from her W-2 job, sold her business, and took a full-on sabbatical to reset. Not because she failed, but because she had to save herself first.

Here’s the kicker—most of us see these stories and think, “Well, that sucks for her, but I can totally keep pushing through.” (Yeah, I called you out.) But let’s be real—how many warning signs do we ignore before we finally admit we’re on the verge of losing it all?

The Three Stages: Growing, Coasting, Contracting

One of Kasey’s biggest game-changers? Learning to categorize areas of her life into three buckets:

Growth: Where she actively invested time and energy (like a business or relationship that needed work).

Coasting: Areas that were stable and didn’t need extra effort (think: maintaining a strong marriage, not rebuilding one).

Contracting: Things she needed to cut out because they no longer served her.

“If you’re trying to grow everything at once, you’re setting yourself up for an implosion.”

The hardest part? Knowing when to stop saying yes to everything.

“Nothing will change unless you change how you spend your time and energy.”

Read that again. Let it sink in.

    The Three Levels of Who

Kasey’s other golden nugget was about surrounding yourself with the right people. She broke it down into three groups:

    1. Mentors & Coaches: People who have been where you want to go and can guide you.
  • Collaborators & Peers: Fellow entrepreneurs or professionals in the trenches with you.
  • Team & Support System: People who work for you or help lighten your load (business and home life).
  • If you’re feeling stuck, Kasey suggests asking yourself: Which layer of my “who” is missing?

    Corporate Mindset vs. Entrepreneurial Mindset

For those still climbing the corporate ladder but feeling unfulfilled, Kasey challenges you to think like an entrepreneur even if you’re not ready to leave your job.

“Entrepreneurs are obsessed with two things: awareness and impact,” she explained. “They’re not just clocking in; they’re thinking about how their work changes lives.”

If you don’t believe in the product or service you’re selling, that’s a red flag. Maybe it’s time to pivot.

Time Management Hacks from a Multi-Seven-Figure Entrepreneur

So how does Kasey keep everything in check? She broke it down for us:

    • No meetings before 11 AM (mornings are for creative work).
  • Emails and texts are only checked in blocks (no all-day distractions!).
  • Social media? Only from 10-11 PM (so she doesn’t get sucked into the doom scroll).
  • Friendships? Core relationships are prioritized, but she’s strict about her time.
  • This woman has boundaries like Fort Knox, and honestly? We should all take notes.

    Final Words of Wisdom

When I asked Kasey what advice she wished she had received early on, she didn’t hesitate:

“You do not have to do this alone. You are not stuck. There are always options. But you have to make the decision to change.”

That’s it, ladies. We don’t have to drown in burnout just to prove we’re strong. We don’t have to juggle everything at once just to feel successful. And we sure as hell don’t have to wait until a doctor tells us we’re heading for a heart attack to finally slow down.

If this episode hit home for you, go check out Kasey’s free time-blocking tool and business growth checklist at KaseyDAmato.com.

Let’s start making decisions that actually serve us.

What’s one thing you can take off your plate today? Drop it in the comments and let’s start a conversation.

Kasey, thank you for bringing your wisdom and no-BS approach to this conversation. And to all my overachieving ladies out there—it’s time to redefine what success really looks like.

  • EU 260: When Your Love for Your Business Competes with Your Man

Listen on Apple. Listen on Spotify. Listen on YouTube.

Ah, Valentine’s Day. The day of love, heart-shaped chocolates, and—if we’re being honest—yet another reminder that you and your husband might feel more like co-workers than lovers. Sound familiar? If your business is getting all your energy, validation, and passion, while your marriage is running on fumes, then girl, we need to talk.

The Validation Gap: Why This Keeps Happening

Let’s start with why this happens in the first place. It’s not just about work. It’s about validation.

At work, you’re thriving. You get praise, promotions, wins—hell, maybe even a viral post or a thousand likes on Instagram. It’s instant feedback telling you, You’re crushing it! But at home? You’re met with expectations. A routine. Maybe even silence. No one’s throwing confetti when you clean the kitchen or handle bedtime. There’s no “Employee of the Month” plaque for remembering to schedule the dentist appointment.

And here’s where it gets dangerous. Over time, two things start happening:

    1. You start resenting your husband for not seeing you anymore.
  • He starts resenting you for choosing work over him.
  • I’ve been there. My husband once told me, I’m tired of competing with your career. And I won’t lie—I fired back with, Suck it up. (Yeah, not my finest moment.) That resentment? It builds. And before you know it, you’re not arguing anymore—not because things are fine, but because you just don’t care.

Are You Making Space for Him at Your Table?

Let me ask you something—are you really inviting your husband into your world? Or are you expecting him to just figure it out?

Because here’s the truth: We fight so hard for a seat at the table in our careers, but are we making space for our husbands at our own table?

If your answer is, Of course I am, but he never… Nope. Pause. This isn’t about what he’s not doing. It’s about whether you’ve actually been bringing him into your wins, your struggles, your world.

How to Shift from Awareness to Action

It’s time to stop letting your marriage run on autopilot. Here’s what you can do today to start shifting things:

    1. Get Honest About Your Resentment

What exactly are you resenting him for? And be real—are you expecting him to fix it without actually telling him what you need?

    2. Start Acknowledging What He Does

I know, I know. Why should I praise him when he hasn’t done sht?* But hear me out. If both of you are stuck in a cycle of resentment, neither of you want to acknowledge each other. Do it anyway. Gottman talks about admiration and fondness—when you start showing appreciation, he’ll start doing the same.

    3. Train Your Brain to See the Good

Your brain clings to negative memories like Velcro but lets the positive ones slide off like Teflon. That’s why it’s so easy to recall every time he forgot something, but hard to remember the sweet moments. You’ve got to actively retrain your brain to focus on the positives.

    4. Rebuild Your Connection Like You Would in Your Career

You don’t land clients without nurturing the relationship, right? So why do we expect our marriages to stay strong without effort? Be intentional.

    5. Make Space for Him Again

Your calendar is full—I get it. But does it include him? Ask yourself, Does my schedule reflect my values? If you value your marriage, make space for it.

Your Career Can’t Hold You at Night

If you’re feeling like work is more fulfilling than your marriage, listen up—your career doesn’t have to come at the cost of your marriage. But if you don’t take action, your marriage will continue to suffer.

So, what’s one thing you can do today to reconnect? What’s one conversation you’ve been avoiding?

Are you willing to fight for your marriage the way you fight for your success?

Because your marriage deserves that effort. You deserve that effort.

And if you’re ready to stop feeling like you have to choose between success and love, I created Empower X just for you. It’s where high-achieving women learn how to balance career and marriage without sacrificing either.

Your career can’t love you back. But a strong, healthy, connected marriage? That, my friend, can.

    Let’s do the work—together.

Listen on Apple. Listen on Spotify. Listen on YouTube.

When it comes to making money, most high-achieving women believe they have to grind, sacrifice, and push themselves to the limit. But what if that mindset is actually keeping them stuck? In this powerful conversation, I sat down with wealth and mindset coach, Shamina Taylor, who went from being an attorney to building a million-dollar business in just one year. Her secret? Shifting from hustle mode to an energy of ease and wealth consciousness. Get ready, because this is about to change the way you think about money, business, and success.

From Attorney to Million-Dollar Business: The Turning Point

Most of us believe success comes from doing more, pushing harder, and never slowing down. But Shamina’s story proves otherwise. She spent years as a high-powered attorney, running her own firm, and checking every box that society said would make her happy—marriage, career, financial stability. And yet, she wasn’t fulfilled.

Her wake-up call? A yoga class that forced her into stillness. “Are you happy?” the instructor asked. The question hit her so deeply that she broke down in tears. “I had everything you told me I was supposed to have… and yet, I felt empty.” That moment sparked her journey into self-discovery, healing, and ultimately, a new business that scaled to seven figures in just 12 months.

She realized she had been operating in survival mode her entire life. Instead of chasing validation through work and achievements, she tapped into wealth consciousness—learning how to attract money instead of constantly chasing it.

“Making a million dollars is really easy. Making a million dollars working a quarter of the time is even easier.” – Shamina Taylor

Breaking Free from Hustle Mode: How to Shift Into Wealth Energy

Most women believe they have to be doing all the time to succeed. But Shamina teaches the opposite: the secret to success is learning how to be first. Hustling, overworking, and over-controlling everything is a trauma response, not a strategy for long-term wealth.

Here’s how to break free from hustle mode:

    1. Embrace Stillness: Meditation, journaling, and slowing down allows you to access intuition and clarity. “Being busy is often just a way to avoid sitting with ourselves.”
  • Stop Measuring Success in Numbers: If your sense of worth is tied to how much money you make or how many clients you have, you’ll never feel like you have enough. Instead, ask yourself: How do I want to feel?
  • Shift from Hustle to Receiving: Many women struggle with receiving help, support, and even money. Learn to trust your team, delegate, and let go of micromanaging everything.
  • Reprogram Your Money Beliefs: Do you think making money is hard? That rich people are bad? That you have to earn every dollar through struggle? Challenge those beliefs and rewrite the narrative.
  • “Women have been conditioned to believe that success has to be hard. But suffering is not the way.” – Shamina Taylor

Money, Men, and Business: The Feminine Energy Connection

What if I told you the way you receive money is the same way you receive love and support in your relationships? The truth is, if you’re constantly in your masculine energy—controlling, planning, managing every detail—you’re likely pushing both money and your partner away.

Shamina explains that women who struggle with their finances often also struggle in their relationships. When women are in hustle mode, they become emotionally closed off, making it difficult for their partners to connect with them. This leads to a lack of polarity in the relationship—meaning both partners are operating in masculine energy, which kills attraction and intimacy.

Here’s how to bring in more money AND improve your relationships:

    • Stop micromanaging your husband. Let him take the lead sometimes, even if it’s not perfect.
  • Allow yourself to receive. Whether it’s money, help, or compliments, practice saying “thank you” instead of rejecting it.
  • Let go of control. The more you try to force an outcome, the more resistance you create. Trust that things can work out without you doing everything.
  • “Money and men show up for us in the exact same way. The more you chase them, the more they pull away.”– Shamina Taylor

Final Takeaway: The Shift That Changes Everything

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in hustle mode, or frustrated with your financial situation, here’s the most important thing to remember:

    • Your current reality is not your final destination. No matter where you are now, more is coming.
  • Your mindset shapes your money. Start shifting into an abundant, expansive way of thinking.
  • The key to more money is less work. But it requires rewiring old beliefs and trusting that ease is possible.
  • “Stop grinding. Stop pushing. It doesn’t have to be hard. When you shift your energy, everything changes.” – Shamina Taylor

  • EU 258: Prioritizing Yourself (To Save Your Marriage and Career)

Listen on Apple. Listen on Spotify. Listen on YouTube.

What if I told you that sitting in silence for just one hour could reveal the truth you’ve been avoiding? No distractions, no phone, no multitasking—just you and your thoughts. Would you embrace it, or would you immediately try to escape? If the idea makes you uncomfortable, you’re not alone. The real question is: What are you running from?

As women, we’ve been conditioned to believe that rest is something we have to earn, that putting ourselves first is selfish, and that if we slow down, everything will fall apart. But this constant sacrifice isn’t just exhausting—it’s damaging your relationships, your career, and your sense of self. It’s time to break the cycle. In this article, we’re diving into why prioritizing yourself feels so hard, the hidden costs of putting yourself last, and how you can finally reclaim your time, energy, and happiness—without guilt

    Summary

    • Sitting in silence can reveal deep-seated fears and guilt.
  • Mom guilt often stems from societal expectations and personal beliefs.
  • Taking time for oneself is not selfish; it’s essential for well-being.
  • Childhood experiences shape our beliefs about self-worth and sacrifice.
  • Women often feel they must earn rest and self-care through productivity.
  • The belief that self-sacrifice is necessary can harm relationships and personal health.
  • Setting boundaries is a crucial act of self-love.
  • Empower X offers support for women seeking to reclaim their lives.
  • Why Silence Feels Unbearable: Facing the Truth You’re Running From

Imagine being asked to sit in silence for one hour. No phone, no distractions, no multitasking—just you and your thoughts. Does the thought make you uncomfortable? Maybe you’d negotiate, cheat with a quick phone check, or feel like the assignment is a waste of time. But what’s really going on beneath that discomfort?

The truth is, silence often brings up guilt, shame, or fear. You might feel guilty thinking of the “shoulds”—“I should be folding laundry,” “I should be finishing work.” Or maybe silence forces you to confront fears like, What if I realize I’m not happy? What if I don’t even know who I am anymore?

“Sitting in silence isn’t unbearable because you’re busy; it’s unbearable because you’re running from the truth.” – Veronica Cisneros

This discomfort has roots in the stories we’ve internalized. Many women were raised to equate self-sacrifice with love and worthiness. You might have been taught that rest is something to be earned, that putting yourself first is selfish. But who decided that your happiness, your rest, and your needs were negotiable? Breaking this cycle requires a hard look at where these beliefs came from—and challenging them.

Mom Guilt: The Lie That Keeps You Exhausted

Mom guilt is a relentless whisper that says taking time for yourself is wrong, that your kids will suffer if you do.

“You just went on a business trip, and now you’re going to work out? What the hell are you thinking?” – Veronica Cisneros

The guilt convinces you to wake up at 5 a.m. to exercise so you don’t “steal” time from your family, leaving you depleted before the day even begins.

But here’s the hard truth: Your kids don’t need a perfect mom; they need a present mom. And when you’re running on empty, snapping at them over the smallest things, or zoning out in front of TikTok because you’re too exhausted to engage, you’re not truly present.

“If your child grew up and lived the life you’re living now, would you be proud of them—or heartbroken for them?” – Veronica Cisneros

Children learn by watching us. If they see you constantly sacrificing yourself, they’ll grow up believing that’s what love looks like. Is that the legacy you want to leave? Imagine instead teaching them the value of self-respect, balance, and boundaries. It starts with giving yourself permission to rest—not as a luxury, but as a necessity.

The Cost of Putting Yourself Last: Marriage, Career, and Legacy

When you put yourself last, the toll shows up everywhere. In your marriage, you might find yourself snapping at your partner or withdrawing completely, leading to distance and disconnection.

“When you don’t prioritize yourself, you show up to your marriage depleted and resentful. Then you wonder why he’s distant.” – Veronica Cisneros

But how can he connect with you when you’re running on fumes?

In your career, overworking and overcommitting often lead to burnout. Many women think this is the cost of success, but as Veronica puts it, “Success without boundaries isn’t success—it’s survival.”

And then there’s the legacy you’re leaving for your children. If they see you sacrificing yourself constantly, they’ll believe that’s what’s expected of them too. Veronica shares a personal moment when she asked her kids if they wanted to take over her practice. Their answer shocked her: “We see what it does to you, Mom.” That was a wake-up call. Even though she tried to hide the exhaustion, they saw the toll it was taking.

The good news? You can change. Boundaries aren’t selfish. They’re the ultimate act of love. By setting boundaries, you teach others how to treat you—and you create space for what truly matters.
