On this last episode dedicated to Brazil, Sonido Tupinamba met Dj Tahira in front of Niemeyer's Copan building to talk about the afro and indigenous roots of this musical country.Tahira is DJ, producer and digger that blends genres and eras, from traditional sounds to the electronic mixtures from the DJ culture. Emerging from the Sao Paulo scene in the ’90s, Tahira has become famous for seeking all varieties of Afro-Brazilian music. His reworks have become classics for DJs such as Francois K, Gilles Peterson, Nightmares on Wax and more and his recently released edit of Gilberto Gil’s “Toda Menina Baiana” received the seal of approval from Gil himself.His quest for lost and forgotten movements of Brazilian music (more than 30 rhythms) include samba de coco, catalysed by slavery in the 19th century, embraced by the working class and almost banished to obscurity by the musical elite. I am crazy for Brazilian music and I know you are too ;) Get ready for a new musical trip alongside Sonido Tupinamba and Rodrigo Gorky (Dj Gorky from Fatnotronic / Phillipi & Rodrigo).

Rodrigo was part of the groundbreaking electro-pop-funky carioca group Bonde do Rolê. The band signed with Domino Recods, toured with Cansei de Ser Sexy, was produced by the likes of Poolside, Diplo, Boyz Noize and had huge collaborators like Caetano Veloso. Nowadays Rodrigo is half of Fatnotronic a duo specialized inedits of obscure Brazilian boogie and balearic tunes that have been praised by 2Manydjs, Fatboy Slim and Diplo.

He is also 50%of Phillipi & Rodrigo, an electronic duo that has just launched it´s debut album, recorded, produced and mixed at Studio DEEWEE (Labelcreated andledby David & Stephen Dewaele from2 Many DJ's&Soulwax)

Besides these two amazing projects he also produces other artists, specially on the LGTBQI community. He discovered via Instagram the talent of the Drag Queen Pabllo Vittar and started building her skyrocket career. PablloVittar is nowadays one of the biggest pop stars in Brazil which is something really outstanding considering the big homophobia that exists in the country.

Saravá and welcome to the fourth episode of ROUND TRIP. On this occasion Sonido Tupinamba continues to explore the magic of Brazil in order to discover more “Brasilidades” with original field recordings and featuring a special guest: Benjamin Ferreira.

Benjamin is a Dj and producer that has been active since the mid 90's. He was nominated as Breakthrough DJ on DJ Mag Brazil, has played at the best clubs in São Paulo and also at big international festivals like Dekmantel. His sound evolves around disco, house and brazilian music and his productions had been issued by Midnight Riot Records. Expect some Axé, Forró, Heavy Synth Edits and Electro Queer sounds too.

On this third episode of ROUND TRIP, Sonido Tupinamba went down to Brazil to seek for some new and old music productions, original field recordings and to meet a very special guest: Millos Kaiser. Millos is a highly respected Dj and Brazilian Music Expert who has taken part of projects such as Selvagem, Selva Discos and also was in charge of the compilation ONDA DE AMOR released by Soundway Records. For the second episode of Round Trip, Sonido Tupinamba takes us to the heart and soul of México City. CDMX is one of the greatest megalópolis in the world where music flows in every corner. Over four weeks, different sounds of the city were registered, interviews were done and songs were picked by Tupinamba and her guests. Expect to find a spicy blend of Mexican music styles like cumbia sonidera, cumbia rebajada, géneros románticos, funk, soul, psych and also modern productions that are part of the musical DNA of the almighty Aztec City.

This show features the participation of local DJs, music researchers and curators that are key in the cultural life of CDMX: Carlos Icaza (Tropic Aza), Sonido Confirmación, Carlos René (Dedos Sucios), Ali Gua Gua, Afrodita and Lucia Anaya (Derré Tidá from Traición and Tortilla).
