Growing up gay leaves you missing out on many things that "NORMAL" kids take for granted, including... crushes, first kisses, and attending dances with the same sex. In spite of this, these events escape us due to the fact that we are confined to the closet pretending to be something we are not. The purpose of this is to protect us from all forms of bullying, including those that exist at home and at school. As we mature and become comfortable with who we are, we often look back and realize the sacrifices we made was our youth.
