LETS BEGIN!!!
1) Use your LinkedIn headline for more than just your job title
Your LinkedIn headline is a powerful tool when used correctly. DID YOU KNOW When commenting on other people’s content they will see both your name and the first line of the headline? If you craft your headline to show more about what you do and how to help people then the chances of people coming to your profile is higher.
Things to consider when writing your headline
- WHO do you help?
- HOW do you help them?
- WHY do you help them?
This will give people a better understanding of you and your brand and you may start to see your LinkedIn enquires start to come in.
2) Break through those barriers
We are constantly looking for an easy option… The path of least resistance!
I recommend that you try to push through your boundaries and step outside your comfort zone. All the good stuff happens when you are in the uncomfortable (exciting) parts of your life. Building a strong, identifiable and relatable personal brand requires you to go places and do things that you’ve never done before.
3) Do you have a distinct graphic style?
Graphic style is a really simple way to make people recognise you.
If you use a consistent style through your image content, then this can be a powerful way to build up brand touch points alongside a solid video strategy. You don’t need to spend hundreds of pounds creating graphic for your personal brand.
You can use things such as
- Canva
- Photofox
- Photoshop
Of course if you have the budget and you want someone to do it professionally and that’s always going to be a benefit too.
4) We don’t all share the same opinions. It’s okay to disagree
Your personal brand is formed by showing your authentic self to the world and a huge part of this is your opinions. If you are worried about others disagreeing with you then try and reframe this in your mind. There is more than one way to get to a destination. So don’t get annoyed, offended or frustrated when someone doesn’t want to take your route. I would encourage that you engage with the discussion to understand their thought process. You may just find that their route was better OR you might decide to keep travelling your current road.
I choose to surround myself with thought leaders and we will not always agree which is great because iron sharpens iron.
5) Visibility is often more important than ability itself
Sometimes we are guilty of relying on skills alone to get the job done, however if you want to build a personal brand you need to be seen! There are LOADS of examples of public figures who are successful because of they are visible. Joe Wicks does not have to be the most knowledgeable and skilful personal trainer to make him the go to guy. Are you making yourself visible?
