In episode 8 of Season 3, we will discuss Dorothea Puente…meanie grannie. Born in Redlands, California in 1929; Dorothea’s childhood was way less then ideal. By the time she was 9 years old; both her mother and her father had passed away (father from tuberculosis and mother from cancer). But that wasn’t the sad part. Her mother and father were super abusive to her. Dorothea’s formative years were scathed by abuse and torture. At some point during her adolescence, she even stayed in an orphanage for a while; where she was sexually abused.

By the time Dorothea was 16, she was grown…and married her first husband. Over the next several years; she became pregnant three times. She gave one child to relatives, another – she put up for adoption, and the third was a miscarriage. By 1948; her husband had left her.

Shortly thereafter, Dorothea faces her first bout of criminal trouble. She was caught and sentenced to 1 year for forging checks but was paroled after just 6 months. Dorothea then became pregnant AGAIN, by someone whom she barely even knew; and gave her daughter up for adoption, AGAIN! 1952 rolls around and she marries someone whom she stays with for 14 tumultuous years.

After this is when shit gets real. Dorothea was driven for money…and did what she had to in order to get that bread. This includes old men, a boarding house, and government checks…

After at least 9, but possibly 15 victims – Dorothea died in a California prison on March 27, 2011.
