John Maas is founder and CEO of Mountain Primal Meat Co., an American Highland Cattle ranch based in Basalt, CO. John moved to Colorado in the early 2000s. In 2012 John transformed an undeveloped piece of land in the Rocky Mountains within a few short years and built it into a highly successful beef and pork enterprise primarily selling meat products online direct to consumers. By putting together a team of highly skilled and driven individuals, Mountain Primal has grown its brand to represent core values of daily hard work, integrity, while embracing a pioneering spirit rooted in American patriotism. In 2020 Mountain Primal expanded its protein offerings to also include elk and bison in steak, ground meat, and sausage options. John’s ranch now hosts the largest herd of American Highland Cattle in North America and ships American Highland Beef, Berkshire Pork, elk, bison, Fuel Sticks (dried jerky sticks), sauces, and Mountain Primal merchandise directly to consumers in all 50 States. John is also a passionate philanthropist with a mission to help veteran service organizations achieve strong early growth and become highly effective at providing their core services to the U.S. military veteran population. He has served on the Board of Directors of Merging Vets & Players as well as the Kirstie Ennis Foundation.
