People-pleasing is when we do things to help other people - to make them feel good and support them. Which sounds good in theory… BUT people-pleasing usually goes above and beyond general kindness and often means that we change our behaviour or what we say so we don’t offend someone and so they will like us.
We change who we are, or aren’t true to ourselves because we don’t want to upset anyone, and we want to be liked.
Today’s episode dives into 3 key reasons WHY you people-please and how you can put yourself first for a change.
For each of the 3 reasons, there are also some journal prompts for you to dive into to help you get to know yourself better. Below are the 3 key reasons, followed by the journal prompts.
1. Fear of Judgement
2. External Validation
3. Lack of Self-Worth
