Listen Later

Charley Pride passed last week from COVID-19 complications & Jay shares his story with us today. He was an incredible bright and optimistic voice out of the Nashville scene starting in the late 1960s & he will be missed. We learn about Charley & listen to one of his classics [Washington Post]:
Song: Charley Pride - I’m Just Me

Bob Dylan sold the rights to his entire catalog last week. The price wasn’t disclosed, but estimates were in the $300 million range. Nick thought this seemed low and needed to check with Greg & Jay to get their thoughts as well. [NY Times]
Song: Hamilton Leithauser - Here They Come

The Dylan story led us right into Greg’s topic for the week. There’s been a slew of testimonies from famous musicians across varying legislatures and they’ve all been on the topic of artists revenues from streaming services. It’s a hot mess and we haven’t discussed in a while, but it’s back and we dig in a good bit. [The Guardian & Louder Sound]
Song: King Crimson - Frame by Frame
