In 1991, a handful of 20 year olds calling themselves Slint recorded an album in Chicago and then promptly split up. The album, titled Spiderland, had no promotion and sold about 5000 copies. Nearly 30 years later, it’s hailed as a foundational post-rock album. Greg shares the story and the album with us. [The Guardian]

Jay brings us two more remembrances this week. Tony Rice was an influential acoustic guitarist & master bluegrass guitarist who got his start playing in The New South in 1970. He collaborated with some of the best during his long career, including Ricky Skaggs, Jimmy Gaudreau, Bela Fleck, Alison Krauss, David Grisham & more. We also remember Leslie West, guitarist & lead vocalist for the hard rock band Mountain. Rest in peace gentlemen & thank you, so much, for the music.
