“There is a battle for our affections.” In 1 Corinthians 10, we are reminded how easily the Israelites fell into idolatry and temptation despite the miracles they saw God perform and how He provided for them each step of the way. And yet, we too are sheep who are easily led astray by our flesh and the desires of this world. Marianne Holm is honored to be one of the newest staff members at Moms in Prayer International Headquarters on the Finance Team as Director of Finance. She lives in Temecula, California with her husband of 35 years. They have 3 adult kids and 2 grandchildren living locally. She and her husband homeschooled all three of their kids to high school graduation. Marianne served the homeschooling families and students for many years by teaching in the area of music & using the time to encourage students to worship God in song and to desire to know Him through His Word. She currently serves in her local church in the business office and women's ministry. She has a passion to know God through study, meditation, prayer and sharing His Word and also, to ignite a passion in others for God's Word.

And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 ESV

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:9-11 ESV
