Breaking Brett Jensen kicks off the show by talking with North Carolina Representative Ray Pickett about how Alleghany, Watauga and Ashe Counties were impacted by hurricane Helene. They also discuss how the recovery efforts are coming along, Rep. Pickett also praises citizens for all of their hard work picking up the slack left by the Federal and State government. 

Later, Brett shares a report from Queen City News on the power outages across North Carolina following Helene, and all of the linemen that have flooded into the state to work on getting everyone's power back on. 

Brett also share a piece from WBT Newsroom's Mark Garrison where he shares various stories of the best food he was able to find at the North Carolina State Fair.
