Foster the People make Todd's #10Albums list with their debut 2011 release 'Torches'.

This album had the Uber-catchy 'Helena Beat' and the controversial 'Pumped Up Kicks'. We discuss the subject matter of the latter, as well as why FtP songs are so catchy!! ..did you know the singer, Mark Foster, used to write radio and commercial jingles??

Torches received generally favorable reviews from critics and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. The record peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200 in the US and number one on the ARIA Albums Chart in Australia. It has been certified platinum in Australia and the US, Philippines, and Canada.

Todd bio

Award-winning Todd Anstett has brought the world 'VRS - Be Kind, Rewatch'. He is also a meteorologist located in East Coast Canada. A slightly younger perspective on the show leanings to more of a modern rock presentation.

This album was in exclusive/heavy rotation for me this past January and February...I had a huge life choice to make and this LP was my choice to lean on and help me keep grounded.
Close to a flawless album, it has a great variance in soft/loud and long/short songs.
I have always loved Neil when he plays with Crazy Horse!!
1975's Zuma follows 1974's 'On the Beach' and 1975's 'Tonight's the Night'.

Well here we are : Josh is officially our 4th person to complete the #10Albums list!!

He is clearly torn with WHICH Nick Cave album to pick...we bring up Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds "alias" Grinderman (which is an amazing album in its own right).

But..in classic #10Albums form Josh sticks to the album that means most to him - there is the complete package for his choice : attending a live concert that supported the album; the album also helped Josh through the grief of his dog (Sinopa) passing away after 14 years of friendship.

Beck's 2002 'Sea Change' shows a much more venerable, straight-forward version of Beck - making this one of his most accessible records he's ever done.

The album is full of beautiful, uplifting sadness - this is a "breakup album" if there ever was one. Beck also resisted the usage of heavy sampling of his previous albums for live instrumentation.

Josh had this album in heavy rotation during a very transformational time in his life : a move across the world from Canada to New Zealand.

I have been listening to this album, in sequence, for the entire past 12 months and am more high on it now than ever before.
