    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-235

This week in the 2024 Summer Podcast Series we are headed way into the archives back to episode 15 of the 100% Guilt-Free Self-Care podcast: Body Acceptance, Body Neutrality and Yoga for Those That Think It Isn't For Them with Anna Guest-Jelley.

While I was first introduced to the idea of function over form in my late 20s, I still suffered from internal battles about beauty standards and our cultural obsession with thinness. It was the 90s and early 2000s when heroin chic was a thing.

It wasn't until I got into my serious yoga practice in my late 30s that I began noticing again the functionality of my body. Some days I could do endless Sun salutations and other days I could barely get off the floor.

Thankfully the studio where I was practicing was one that asked us to practice self-compassion and acceptance while we were on the mat.

Anna was one of the people who I connected with online. She had been using yoga as a tool to relieve her frequent migraines.

She has always lived in a bigger body and finding a safe place to practice was a challenge. So she created her own.

  • EP 234: The Secret to Self-Care: Self-Compassion

    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-234

This week in the 2024 Summer Podcast Series, we are headed way into the archives back to episode 4 of the 100% Guilt-Free Self-Care podcast: Self-Compassion.

When people ask me what has had the biggest impact on my life, I always say self-compassion.

This practice has changed everything for me. It has helped me be more productive, prolific, and passionate. It has helped me be a kinder parent, partner, and professional. It has helped me be closer to my friends, my spouse, and my kid. It has helped me take bigger risks, be more open and vulnerable, and be really proud of who I have grown up to be.

Don't be fooled by the simplicity. It is one of those simple but not easy practices.

And it is 100% worth the effort daily.

  • EP 232: Why Fill Your Cup Before 💩 Hits the Fan

    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-232

I have such a complicated relationship with the 4th of July. It is my mom's birthday and she's been gone 9 years. She would be so proud of the life and business I have built helping women with self-care and rebalancing the domestic labor at home while also helping to create more equity in the US. I am so sorry she isn't here to see it.

Independence Day hits differently for me now. Living through historical times is no joke. The veil over the story that America is the land of free and home of the brave is gone. Very few of us are free. We are in the biggest fight for democracy since before World War II. We are being called to create something better for everyone and change is exhausting.

What are your thoughts on this Independence Day?

In the first of our 2024 Summer Podcast Series we are headed way into the archives back to episode 4 of the 100% Guilt-Free Self-Care podcast: Why Fill Your Cup Before 💩 Hits the Fan.

There has never been a better time to fill your reserves than now.

I would love for you to listen to this short, but thought-provoking episode.

How are you? Any vacation plans to share? I would love to hear about your trips, your traditions and how you spend your time away from home when you get it. I didn't grow up with yearly vacations so this is all new territory for me. Please share!

Are you on Threads? I am one of those weirdos that loves meeting new people on social media platforms, so when it started I jumped right in. It reminds me of what Twitter was back in the beginning….a cocktail party full of smart people I don't know yet and I can attend while wearing my pajamas.

That's where I met this week's podcast guest. We were both chatting people up on Threads and started talking to each other. We got to meet in real life at Mom2 Summit and as she said, "the conversation was so good we walked to the bathroom together and kept right on talking".

Have you met Tara Clark of Modern Mom Probs? She is a delight.

Check out the Modern Mom Probs mission:

Our mission is to support women through the trials and tribulations of modern-day motherhood, normalizing taboo topics through empathy and a good laugh. With a focus on honesty, relatability, and humor, we candidly share our experiences, creating an inclusive environment for all mothers to feel seen, heard, and connected.

Tara Clark is an author, speaker, content creator, podcaster, and the founder of Modern Mom Probs.

After becoming a mom and recognizing a hole in the online space for moms to authentically connect, she launched her Instagram account in 2017. She has since built a valued community, solidifying herself as a humorous, trusted voice in the parenting space.

Her work has been featured in prominent publications including Buzzfeed, Today, Motherly, Parents.com, Scary Mommy, Romper and Yahoo Life.

She is the author of Modern Mom Probs: A Survival Guide for 21st-Century Mothers and the founder of Modern Mom Style Box, a clothing rental subscription service for busy moms.

She is also the host of the Modern Mom Probs podcast, where she seeks solutions for modern mom problems by interviewing medical experts, therapists, popular content creators, and best-selling authors.

  • EP 230: More Time Means More Joy with Christine Landis of Peacock Parenting

    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-230

Our guest this week used to work in corporate America and this is what she had to say about becoming a parent:

Most people want to leave work behind when they get home, but I found myself leaning into the leadership qualities from my past work life. I naturally turned to experts, built teams to support my partner and me, and recognized that I valued my time differently than every other parent I knew. And interestingly, I seemed to also be genuinely happier than the parents around me, proudly parenting in a way that put my time at the forefront so that I could show up more joyful for my family.

    Meet Christine Landis.

Hi, I'm Christine! Former CEO turned Peacock Parent.

I am passionate about empowering parents to delegate like a #boss at home, so they can take more control of their time.

By applying the skills I learned in growing and selling a multi-million dollar business to my personal household, I've been able to treat the home like a growing company.

Delegating low-joy tasks, outsourcing chores, and managing teams at home, ultimately buys my partner and I more quality time with our family. And time is the real luxury in life.

Christine's 99 Tasks You Can Delegate Today is a gift to you.

  • EP 229: The One To Call When You Need An Assistant with Ashley Chang CEO of Sundays

    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-229

    How are you?

Remember that time in the 90s when Hilary Clinton said it takes a village to raise a child? It turns out she had visited Africa and that it is a very common African proverb attributed to her, but I digress... I could sorta see it then, but the notion that we are all interconnected and rely on one another in small and big ways has been made clear especially during the pandemic.

Family Success Team is a term I came up with when we became parents. I define members of our FST as anyone who helps us be successful in any way. People who are on my FST include: school/teachers who work well with our neurodiverse kid, her OT, our therapists, our babysitters who played endless games of Thomas the Train and Duplo, all the neighbors/friends who pick up or drop off my kid when I am not able, all the housecleaners we've hired over the years, Carly - our professional organizer who helped me learn how to use our house spaces better, my hairstylist because she saves me time, money and product, my chief of staff Katie who does all the behind the scenes work in my business, the grandparents for taking care of themselves and having a good relationship with our kid, my walking buddies, my yoga teacher, my strength training coach, my parenting coach, my health coach, my business coaches, my physician, my friends who show up day after day, my biz besties, the public library, my Fair Play colleagues, all the authors who have helped me be a better version of myself. I could go on, but I think you get the point.

We really aren't made to do life alone. There is simply too much to be done and we can't be experts at everything. There is a beautiful surrender to that if you ask me.

Imagine having so much to do it is keeping you awake at night, wishing you had a personal/executive assistant, but not having the time or the energy to find someone to add to your Family Success Team. I found the person to talk to at Mom 2 in Nashville.

    Meet Ashley Chang.

Ashley is the co-founder and CEO of Sundays, an executive assistant service for working parents. Their goal is to accelerate parents in their careers while creating more time for family.

Sundays can help with family, with your home stuff and with your work stuff. Examples include: scheduling medical appointments, helping your kids get a passport, making your vacation itinerary and reservations, getting teacher appreciation gifts, canceling cable/subscriptions, finding and booking a swim teacher or math tutor or nanny. Sundays can also help you get quotes for movers, order photos, replace your house filters and replace appliance pieces.

In other words, Sundays help reduce mental load and get those nagging tasks out of your head and on to the DONE list.

    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-228

(We had some technical difficulties last week, so here's what would have happened if we didn't.)

We are counting down the days until school's out for the summer break and also until the first day of school. Eight and 75 respectively.

Last week, I shared the Summer of Intentionality with you, and we have been implementing those plans to squeeze the most out of the season. If you'd like to create a memorable summer for your family, check out that episode.

I am so excited to introduce you to my guest this week! I met Patricia at Mom2 Summit last year in Scottsdale. We bonded quickly over having both been classroom teachers and now coaches. I was in the midst of my ADHD evaluation so I had so many questions for her.

Patricia Sung helps moms with adult ADHD work with their unique brains and get their ish together one step at a time and feel confident running their family life.

She hosts Motherhood in ADHD, a Top 5 Parenting podcast, encouraging mamas with practical strategies and relatable missteps. She's a hobby-hopping, anxious adventurer, willing to try almost anything once. A midwesterner at heart, she reluctantly has adopted the word "y'all" and lives in Houston with her husband and two young sons.

  • EP 227: What's Saving My Life Right Now + The Best Summer Ever

    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-227

May was a LOT. I am so happy to be heading into the summer season to make some memories, finish some projects, read a lot and spend time with my family.

Around here we call this season the Summer of Intentionality. I learned about it from my pal Rosie Molinary.

Rosie met a boy at a college party who could recite long poems from memory. She was impressed and asked him how he was able to do it. His answer is what became the SOI.

I tell more of the story on this week's podcast along with things that are saving my life this season.
