In 2017, Colorado, 7-year-old Olivia Gant lost her fight to a rare, incurable disease she had been battling for years. Her doting mother had dedicated her life to raising awareness of her daughter’s plight, collecting donations and helping her complete the items on her bucket list. It was only following Olivia’s demise that doctors finally realised the mother was not the guardian angel she appeared to be, and the cause of death was not a rare disease, but something much closer to home. This is what happens when a child is medically abused for attention and financial gain.
