Why Not?

#100 Things we learned over the years as a coach with @cian0brien

Listen Later

So here we are at ep no. 100! Nearly 2 years since why not? Started, the time has flown!

Today I had Cian O' Brien back on the podcast (ep #25,#86,#88) and we talked all about things we have learned over the years as a coach.

We talk about how people gravitate to those who "look the part" but what worked for this person may not work for you

It's ok to be wrong about your programming and you can change it if it doesn't work for your client

You don't need to be in pain after training and dripping in sweat for it to be a productive session

How you don't need to go hard every day, and unless you are an athlete sometimes just getting through the session is enough

That working single reps can make huge differences to your progress in terms of technique and load

BMI is just one way to measure yourself by

How we have created a world in which people are afraid to move

The course providers need to reevaluate how they are preparing coaches and PTs for actually working with people

That extremes can work for people but we still need to stay in our lane when it comes to extremes

That little tweaks to your diet can make massive changes

All our decisions have consequences

The main takeaway is that life isn't black or white and there is a lot that exists in the grey and just because something didn't work for you don't be afraid to try something different as what works for someone may not work for you and vice versa
