We are so honoured to be joined this week by Mundanara Bayles, an Aboriginal woman living on Gubbi Gubbi country on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Mundanara is the Managing Director and co-founder of BlackCard , a 100% Aboriginal owned business providing cultural capability training and consultancy services to enable people and organisations to work effectively with members of the Aboriginal community. Mundanara is also the host of the amazing podcast Black Magic Woman, sharing stories about things that matter to First Nations People in Australia and around the world.
Mundanara’s cultural heritage is connected to the Wonnarua and Bundjalung people on her mother’s side (Hunter Valley, Northern NSW) and the Birri-Gubba and Gungalu (Central Queensland) on her father’s side. Mundanara is married to Peace a Kiwi by birth with family connections to Fiji and together they are raising five children. Coming from a family that has been active in the Aboriginal movement since the 60s and 70s, Mundanara is a proud advocate for her people.
In this week's episode Mundanara shares her knowledge, and the knowledge of her ancestors with us while we chat about Indigenous culture, multiculturalism and how we can raise our children to be more culturally aware. This is such a beautiful chat with informative insights for all people, regardless of whether you are parents we highly recommend taking a listen!
