Joanna Chiu is the world famous, Vancouver-based National Correspondent for the Toronto Star focused on Canada-China relations and current affairs.

She was the Beijing-based correspondent for Agence France Presse (AFP), the world’s oldest news agency and the China and Mongolia correspondent for the top German news agency, Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA). In Hong Kong, she reported for the South China Morning Post, The Economist, and The Associated Press. Her work has also appeared in The Guardian, BBC World, The Atlantic, Newsweek, and Al Jazeera.
