10Backward - A LowerDecks Podcast

Happy new year and let’s hope 2018 is going to be another Trek-Tastic year! Now, we officially add uninvited guest Gemma to our ranks as we have a good old look at how the latest version of Star Trek is going. At the time of recording, we’d watched up to Episode 10, although 11 will have been released by the time this comes out. So we recap our highs and lows of Discovery so far and how we’re feeling about it as a whole.

We are joined again by Rob Chapman and Rick and Rob load up with 7 tons of itritium explosives and bazookas to save an innocent, peace loving film from the evil attacks of Will and Richard. But are they so dead set on attacking Insurrection? Can Rick and Rob truly muster any defence of this film? It’s much maligned, is this fair or unfair?

It’s the 30th Anniversary year of Star Trek: The Next Generation! We recently examined the pilot, Encounter at Farpoint and felt it was only right to follow up with a look at the series finale, All Good Things.

At 10Backward, we were told that maybe some of our topics could be daunting for the more casual Trek fan. So we decided to do a show on what we felt were good episodes to watch if you weren’t a big Trekkie already, or maybe entirely new to the show. In all the Discovery excitement, it’s been easy to overlook that it’s the 30th Anniversary of The Next Generation! But we haven’t! In the first of a few shows looking at elements of TNG, we go back to where it all began, Deneb IV, ‘beyond which lies the great unexplored mass of the galaxy,’ or at least 7 years of awesome Trek action!

It’s here! It’s finally arrived! After 12 years, Star Trek is back on TV!

So, how was it? Here at 10Backward, we watched, we re-watched and we made notes. Then we got together and discussed the heck out of it!
