Lazarus had died and “the grave” had won…that is, until Jesus showed up! Jesus wept because He cares and the pain is real. Jesus gave Lazarus NEW LIFE because the hope we have in God is greater than the pain of life.

God is not ignorant of our difficulties, but He doesn’t focus on them either.

“Surely Your goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever!” 

Verse 6 promises that God’s Love Chases Us in EVERY moment of our lives and the blessing is found in the fact that it’s the Lord’s house, not ours! Don’t turn a blessing into a burden.

Psalms 23:5 makes it clear that the Lord PREPARES, ANOINTS and BLESSES us. Of course, we can make our own preparations, find our own success and obtain our own blessing…but it will never even remotely compare to what God has in store for us when we trust and follow Him as the Lord our Shepherd!

God doesn’t overburden us or cause us spiritual anxiety…man does that! The order of verse 3 promises that the Lord will RESTORE my soul, then lead me in the RIGHT path from a place of rest and strength.

The order of verse two is intentional and divine: first we Surrender to God as our Lord - then He leads us in the direction we’re suppose to be going! God will never abandon us - but He won’t LEAD us until we surrender and fully trust & follow Him.
