海外(かいがい)ではほとんど馴染(なじ)みのない3月(がつ)14日(にち)のホワイトデーですが、日本(にほん)では男(おとこ)の子(こ)が女(おんな)の子(こ)にバレンタインデーのチョコレートのお返(かえ)しをする日(ひ)として盛(も)り上(あ)がっています。バレンタインデーにはチョコレートをあげるのが主流(しゅりゅう)ですが、ホワイトデーのお返(かえ)しはクッキーやチョコレートなどいろいろあります。そのお返(かえ)しのお菓子(かし)には、女(おんな)の子(こ)に対(たい)するさまざまな気持(きも)ちが隠(かく)されているそうです。日本人(にほんじん)でもあまり知(し)らない、ホワイトデーのお返(かえ)しのお菓子(かし)の意味(いみ)を調査(ちょうさ)してみました。

In overseas countries, March 14th, known as White Day, is mostly unfamiliar, but in Japan, it's an exciting day when boys return the favor to girls for the chocolates received on Valentine's Day. On Valentine's Day, giving chocolates is the mainstream, but the returns on White Day vary and include cookies, chocolates, and more. These return gifts of sweets are said to conceal various feelings towards the girls. We've investigated the meanings behind the White Day return sweets, which are not very well known even among Japanese people.
