相傳在上古時代，人類知識有限，連年、月的計算與區分都不知道。於是，玉皇上帝應人類的請求，想出以十二種動物作為各年的名字，讓一般平民百姓方便記憶。但選什麼動物呢？經過左思右想，玉帝決定在自己生日當天舉辦動物渡河比賽，取前十二名的動物作為十二生肖，以為紀年。

消息傳開後，所有動物無不卯足勁，躍躍欲試，想在十二個生肖裏取得一席之地。其中，感情很好的小老鼠和小貓咪也想赴會，卻苦於體形小又不會游泳。於是便商請平日早起又脾氣溫和的水牛幫忙載牠們一程。

玉帝生日當天一大早，小老鼠去叫醒睡眼惺忪的小貓咪。可是小貓咪醒不來，水牛就叫老鼠不要理會他，趕快啟程。就在他們快到達終點時，水牛心裡想著「得第一」的念頭，但是老鼠跳到牛前面，搶得第一。

水牛隻得到第二名。老虎全身濕答答的趕來，得到第三。兔子透過別的動物幫忙渡河，再飛快的蹦到玉帝面前，取得第四。因為職責所在，降了場雨才趕來赴會的巨龍，錯過第一，只排到第五。

接著是馬，但其實蛇隱藏在馬下面。蛇一出現，馬就受驚。因此蛇搶得第六位，而馬則奪得第七位。接著羊、猴和雞坐在木筏上，到了岸邊。三個決定將第八名讓給了羊。接著是猴（第九）和雞（第十）。然而，狗很會游泳，但在水裡嬉戲太久，只搶得第十一名。最後一名的豬則偶然間勝出。

正當玉皇大帝鄭重宣布：「十二生肖經由比賽結果，排名是：鼠、牛、虎、兔、龍、蛇、馬、羊；猴、雞、狗、豬。」時，落後的小貓咪狼狽地趕到：「我呢？我呢？我得第幾名？」

玉皇大帝告訴牠來晚了，比賽已經結束。這時，小貓咪氣到極點，以為小老鼠故意不叫牠，因此伸出了利爪，往小老鼠抓去。原本是好朋友的小老鼠，雖然在十二生肖中拔得頭籌，卻從此過著提心吊膽的日子，生怕貓咪隨時找牠報仇。所以每當遇上了貓咪，只有死命地竄逃，甚至躲在牆洞裏或天花板上，不敢隨意到處自由活動。

卻也有人認為是小老鼠故意不叫小貓咪，便說：「這就是做了虧心事應得的報應。」

We once again use Formosan macaques as the protagonist of the design. This cute little monkey is so strong, with a full and sturdy body and limbs, and a long tail curled high. Slightly raised chin and mouth, we seem to be able to feel its carefree and happy mood.

The base is Ruyi with beautiful shape, which is auspicious in Chinese culture. We intentionally combine Ruyi with lily, so that the flower language of lily, the meaning of smoothness, blessing, and fulfillment of wishes, will be brought into this work together.

The goddess Venus wanders between heaven and earth, she seems to jump out of a daffodil.

“Dream of Heaven and Earth" is the ancestor of 1300 who pioneered a new world in the field of porcelain art. It took a total of five years.

In the first three years, we have been failing in the process of converting sculpture prototypes into porcelain. The long hair of the goddess Venus and the daffodils overlap each other in all directions., from the front, side, back to the base. There are large curves in different quadrants, and multi-level undercut shape.

The deconstruction process of the mold from the sculpture prototype is another challenge. It must be tightly closed when connecting, without leaving a mold. It is important to preserve the original design.

Furthermore, excessive penetrating shapes and arches also increase the difficulty of firing in the kiln.In order to overcome the process of porcelainization, it will be 15% smaller than the soil model, we took another two years.

This work "Monkey Teapot” is based on Formosan macaques. The shape of the teapot is designed as a monkey mother. The arms of the monkey mother turned into a spout.
